if anyone is struggling with case design i have uploaded my "rough" take on the speaker its all based of the pictures others shared in this thread and some guess work here an there it is by no means perfect but is good enough for me on my first go at some thing like this https://www.printables.com/model/628716-bneck-speaker . sadly i can not seem to find a cnc place near me who could make it for me
Hi Yaka, I built my own out of veneered MDF using a router and a plywood template. Not as nice as yours but I'm pleased with them. I'm about to get a different design built which I can't do myself and found a company in Welshpool who specialise in making speaker cabinets for DIY enthusiasts who don't have the tools. Send them your file and they'll give you a quote. https://www.obaudio.co.uk/
I had a couple of emails back with a prompt response however my last emial hasn't had a response. MAybe give them a call - they were very helpful in my first two emails.
Does anyone know if these can be made as an active speaker or would I need to increase size of the enclosure to accommodate the extra power?
well still no luck in finding a cnc place, but someone on another forum has offered to help.
i may end up hand routing it, but that will be if and when my neighbors will ok for me to use the backyard for a day or two
as and active speaker you could possibly do it in the orignal dimensions but yeah will be easier if you made it taller at least

Where in the UK are you based? I have a small CNC machine that should handle this - I am also interested in putting together a clone!well still no luck in finding a cnc place, but someone on another forum has offered to help.

thanks so much for the offer, but a kind soul has offered to do them for meWhere in the UK are you based? I have a small CNC machine that should handle this - I am also interested in putting together a clone!
But does it have the special electromechanical parallel resonator? 😉
You refer to the double oil treated, twin snaked resonance path?
Yes, Chinese designers have been perfecting this technology for years.
In fact the Chinese have been using snake oil for centuries.
Boenike learned about it in his long journeys around the planet and adapted it to the Swiss mountain cobra. Which is the cause for the revolutionary sound of his objects.

posts 65-69 some measurements. The result of all these measurements and adventures makes me think that I don’t need any crossover for this speaker.
The fact is that the main component in the system is the FE85 fullrange driver and the tweeter has a minimum influence in the system, as well as the SW above 300/400Hz so the FE85 is the main piece of the system.... and its a fullrange.
In fact, I have been listening to the system without crossover and it sounds good to me.
Option: Build it with no crossover.
