opa1641 is an excellent choice, I would certainly use it over a ne5532a in this app unless you have a ton of them to use up...
... So who is putting one of these together? should fit nicely in a 100x100mm pcb, all for 10 @ $13 from pcbway 🙂 The day has come where we can get a pcb's for the same or less than the parts costs for proto's.

Looks great! I think I would like to give this one a try. Looking at the power requirements, I have a low noise, 15VDC , 1A power supply ready for this... would you go with something like this to generate the voltage rails: http://diyaudioprojects.com/Chip/Opamp-Phono-Preamp/DCW03-DC-DC-Dual-Output-Converter-Datasheet.pdf

Also, do you have a recommendation for C4? Maybe a poly ecap as you were suggesting?

INF146
now why did Bews not used a jfet in there design? or did they? cost? performance?
Most of the high end japanese MM phono-amp designs I have looked at all used jfets.
Has Doug Self ever used a jfet in the front end for MM phono-amp?
Fun stuff, talking about obsolete media = LP's

RE: Bews - I could be wrong, but the low-res nudie pics say no. The first are from the modern LE series phono stages and the second is from the older Mistral.
