Best 10” coaxial driver for 2-way use?

My thoughts are that generally pro coaxial are not really meant for full range operations. I believe most of the time there is an expectation that there will be a woofer to augment it. The exception might be the coax from eminence.

Radian make some very nice coaxials.

But the fact is that almost all coaxials are aimed at pro use and, as such, are not meant for full range operation (they generally fall off at around 80Hz). Even 15" ones. So if you want to use it for hifi I would go for a 10" coax augmented by a 10" (or larger) sub. You'll need considerably more power for the sub than the coax.

FYI, high x-max and coaxials are not a great mix as high excursions will affect HF response.

Some other less commonly mentioned coaxials to check out are from Tannoy send KEF. Some of their installer series are suitable for hifi as well.

fwiw I had Beta 10cx w. 1001S in a Karlsonator12 with Eminence's 2K5CX xover values - it was horribly bland and lackluster.

Mike Chua probably did a better xover lowpass and voicing with his Osprey adventures:

Osprey-II Revisited (Eminence 10CX with Selenium D220ti) – AmpsLab

12LTA (which I loathe as want more motor power) had a better midrange.

Karlsonator 12 is tuned very low @37Hz - that said, it would have been
difficult to overdrive Beta10cx in the LF.

btw, I've two NOS 10cx by Eminence with ~100oz magnet. (might be only 80 but seem heavier) Their
labels do not match up with Eminence's records.

They sold for $33 or so at Ebay
