Babelfish XA252 / Babelfish XA252 SIT / Babelfish XA252 SET

I have now removed everything with the exception of VR1, VR2 OK1, and OK2 as well as TH1. thought I better check in and see if they are also on removal list.

All T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7 are tested, with only T4 faulty, measuring as resistor. That is one not previously changed, I believe that was only T6 and T7 the first repair go round. So, are TH1, OK1, OK2, VR1 and VR2 also suspect and need checked? pics will be posted shortly!

Here we go

Oh, and the two suggested zeners to test, ZD3 and ZD4 need a short extender soldered to one leg to fit in gizmo, but setting multimeter to diode showed a small measurement with polarity one way, nothing the other way so I think they are good, I will solder extender and put in gizmo

don't despair, just be methodical

in eons of my service work .... things were mostly easy in cases when I had servie data while working - I could count on my knowledge and logic ( sometimes adequate, sometimes not) to troubleshoot logically

but - in cases of more complex malfunctions and without service data ......... it shows that fastest routine was always - methodical checking of all actives, replacing everything evidently bad and pulling out everything suspicious and testing outa circuit

work sometimes long and tedious but much shorter than poking as hen for beans ....... and - believe me - had enough of that, too

and they told me wisely to stay in Paris, to continue work as Lady of the Night......... naah ..... I wanted to work in Electronics , in Serbia

thyristor - if measures OK in one placement way, difference of measurement placed differently can be explained only by software quirk

so, good

V1.V2 - they're "just" opto diode protection of overvoltage; circuit - in normal circumstances - can go even without them

though, never measured those in Gizmo, so you'll wait for my comment until tomorrow - I'm not in Workshop and will go - most likely - to zzzzzz soon

and will zzzzzzz, depending how tense is upcoming part in Wheel of Time Omnibus; it happened enough times that I've read all night in bed
