Hi chakija. I did build version with IRFP150 up and Semisouth 063's down. If only I could compare with poor man's all IRFP... 😉

Are you looking for a couple of IRFP150 ? 🙂
For Sissies or not, Bᄅſ just invites listening. I'm listening to a mix from 2006 now, with a big grin 😀
jwjarch, we should have a listen off in a few months. I have a 2016 Iron Pumpkin SE as the preamp for this setup.

bajjisw, I think I’ll keep the semisouths for now. 😉
A listen off would be awesome! Hopefully we can make that a reality some day.

Thanks for the complements ItsAllInMyHead. I had to go back and read your posts on your build and impressions. Are you still using the Iron Pre with yours? The BabelJ2 is up to some stiff competition against my F7 clone paired with a WHAMMY pre. I recently swapped the LM833 for a Burn Brown OPA2134 in the WHAMMY. Less DC offset and a little more detail. I will try it with the J2 and compare vs F7.
You're welcome. Yes, I am still using the balanced Iron Pre as my primary pre-amp. 😀
I'd imagine that F7 / WHAMMY combo sounds exceptional. Can't wait to see your thoughts on the WHAMMY / BJ2.
We are a fortunate group. We get to walk into a 'stable of Ferraris' and select which one to drive. If only I could DIY a Ferrari.
Maybe not a Ferrari but you could get pretty close with these guys. Build Your Own Car - Roadster, Hot Rod, & Supercar - Factory Five Racing
On my wish list for a build some day....
Nice pre-amp there ItsAllInMyHead.

WOW! I just went down a rabbit hole on that site. Seriously cool stuff. I turned the screen away from my wife.
Now... about that garage remodel... gonna need a lot of new tools... maybe she won't mind parking outside... it's warming up in MN.
Seriously though, I hope your wish comes true. Some incredible cars to choose from. I hope it's not like DIY amps. You can't build just one.

Yep, that’s a dangerous website for people with our personalities. I’ll save a car build for when my kids get old enough to really help out. For now I am thrilled to have some seriously good amplifier projects like the BabelJ2. Off to hook it up to the main system!
I made it.. TIG welded from 15x15mm profiles and powdercoated. Sides are 3mm alu, middle shelf is 6mm alu that caries two 500w toroids from bottom and 30cm long tunnel above. Everything is also manually machined by me.
I had that cooling tunnel collecting dust for almost 15years. Finally pulled some free time to make a chassis that will accommodate any A class amp. As Zen will not stop 🙂.. I'm just waiting for next creations like sexy bush, warm aunt, etc..

I know.. that's why PSU pcb's have so many output connector 😀
Errmm..
I have some strange behavior on both channels..
Sale (Zen) what would be your first hint if mosfets are not pulling current if input is not shorted out?
So, input shorted - mosfets are pulling current but there is almost 1.5v of output offset that cannot be trimmed out. Inputs open - no current but offset is ok and trimable.

both channels same behavior?
inputs must be shorted, in fact - neg input must be shorted, simply because MZM forgot to include 1M resistor from neg in to GND, for steady reference ( later corrected)
explain which parts you have in output, and what you put of resistors, regarding Notes in schm

Yes, both channels are acting the same.
With input shorted I cannot lower offset lest then 1.4v and as I open up the input, bias goes to almost zero.
Outputs are both IRFP150. As I couldn't get 3W mox ones locally, I drilled additional holes and used 2W ones - 3x1R, 3x1.5R and 3x0.68R (top to bottom..)
Also:
R123=270R
R118=820R
R122=270R
