B1 with Korg Triode

Yes. Phono Pre?

A simple question - does this preamp accommodate a low-output MC cartridge? I use one such phono cartridge from AudioTechnica.
Thanks in advance.

I would very much doubt it, and it doesn't seem to have an RIAA stage in it either. That said, I'm looking hard at this board to build a dedicated phono preamp for a Hana MH and would love to know if folks think this suited to that purpose.

Cheers.

My current phonostage is just MM. I’m contemplating building a separate phono pre that can get .2 mV up to something close to line level with an RIAA stage that can be switched I/O. The b1 kit *seems* like it could get me there with either a transformer or additional gain stage in addition to an RIAA board. That said, I know just enough to be dangerous.

Yeah, I bet a step up trans and your mm phonostage would give you what you need. I’d also recommend taking a look at the Pearl 2 phonostage. It was designed with MC in mind, and it’ll blow your mind sound wise. The Pearl 2 into a B1K would be an awesome combo!

U need at around 70db . It gets a little though at that gain. Perhaps pearl 2 can do the job or Mc step up. It gets quite difficult at that gain due to noise

You might also look into the Salas ultra folded riaa. A new version has adjustable gain (41, 47, 55 and 63 dB as I recall). I recently built it and am using it with a Hana ML and B1 Korg. At a 55 dB setting on the phono stage it delivers enough gain to not have to push the B1K too much. The combo sounds amazing, although it is not an inexpensive build like the B1K. My Pearl 2 is still under construction, so I can't comment on differences, but i can absolutely recommend the Salas as a great sounding and flexible phono stage.

I had reported a while ago that a power surge from a nearby lightning strike during a thunderstorm may have killed the left channel in my B1 Korg NuTube preamp. I have finally had the time to check everything, and most everything on the board seems fine, except I have yet to verify the JFETs and NuTube are okay. How can I check this before purchasing replacement parts?

I only get sound from the right channel.

Hi all
I was wondering if the new B1K kit will be a good match with my single ACA 1.6 ?
Sorry if this was ask before ,I couldn't find it

Yes. Tried it with a single ACA.

Finished mine some three months ago and been using since.

Bought only the board with the Korg and parts and the chassis from the DIY store. The other parts from DigiKey as per the parts list provided.

Messy wiring. But none of the problems that are mentioned in this thread. Great sound coming out of both channel of equal loudness.

Thanks 6L6.
When I ordered the parts from the store(complete kit not available at the time) I included the power supply used in the ACA. Thought it is the one to be used with the Korg until when filling up my DigiKey parts order a power supply showed up.

Thanks to Jason, that ACA power supply was removed from my store parts order immediately.

So my question is, can the ACA supply be used with the Korg? Always tempted to do it but not sure if it would be ok.

The 11p is an input transformer. You’ll want an output transformer to place after the B1k. You’ll probably need another stage to drive this. From my conversations with Jensen, you need it DC coupled with low output impedance (50 ohm max) and low DC offset (10mV max).
