I thought the meaning of life was getting meaningless deals on electronic crap. I suppose the 6000+ pos feedback before all that were fake.
I dont defend audiotek actions, i just know I got many many cool items for descent pricess for al ong time.
I would take the chance again, if they dont ship there is paypal protection, dont agree? Dont buy, unless you think its your mission as ebay police.
I appreciate these forums warning people of scams, but jesus you people are insane, relax a little bit

It is everyones choice whether they wish to deal with whomever they want to, and yes it perhaps is harsh of us (I don't know about insane, the fact that there's people on here think that differing materials used in the legs of a resistor can alter sound for better or worse is a better example of us insane audio DIYers!! 😉 ) to rip on anyone who wants to continue shopping with all the Audiotek related if they've never had a bad experience with them.
I never had a bad experience with them but I will not throw my money at them and use paypals protection plan as a backup plan to shopping with dodgy eBay sellers. When I shop on eBay I do my best to put my money in the direction of sellers that are trustworthy, have a proven record and are more friendly and helpful when they are required to be.
I don't want to put whatever small amount of money I can afford every now and then in the pockets of people that I'm not sure I'll recieve the items from. Before anyone comes back with "You can never be sure" yes, I agree, but there are steps you can take to at least try to avoid shopping with fraudsters. Why sit waiting and waiting, deal with the stalling tactics that dodgy sellers use, having to file paypal claims, is it worth it for the sake of a few so called 'bargains'?
I agree with cobra, it's not paypals job to refund shoppers who throw their money to the blatantly wrong people... this way of thinking eventually comes right back to bite all of us on the backside as paypal charges rise to cover the costs causing sellers to push up their prices and the rest of us end up paying even more for the items that we want...

Aside from that, doesn't paypal give your money back? So isn't refunding the money enough?
Answer to your 1st Question is NO!
Answer to your 2nd question is NO as well unless I like to support fraudulent activity. As the above 2 posters mentioned .... it will cost us more in the long run with higher EBay?PayPal fees.
Read below for my situation in detail......
What I mean is.... I started buying item in mid December thru to mid January and I waited 3-4 weeks (Canadian Customs are normally pretty slow) for the small items to arrive.....and I received NOTHING. They mentioned that large items will take 4-6 weeks to arrive - so I gave them the benefit of the doubt prior to contacting them. So I contacted them in early February and they responded "oh yea we will send out the $200+ worth of items the next day" and I knew at this time I was having my suspicions. So I waited a few days and started noticing extreme amount of Negative Feedback on their sites and got worried. Then AudioTek968 got shutdown and I knew I was in trouble. I went right to PayPal and discovered 70% of my items were within 45 days and the initial 30% were 46-50 days (DAMN!) and put in my claims. Then AudioTek168 was shutdown and that confirmed I got scammed!
I discovered the "DIYAudio Shop" and got EBay to shut them down as well as I help shut down DIY Japan a little later.
So now we have Savvy Shop (whatever they call themselves!) and you want to give them a fair chance (what???). Are you kidding me???????????!!!!!!!!!!

Zack, if I may...
You have come on board here attempting to defend the actions of someone you apparently know nothing about.
You are suggesting to those who have been financially affected by this seller to go easy on them and have described some of our membership as insane.
I am going to respectfully ask that if you have nothing more concrete to contribute to this thread then you bow out at this point.
If you wish to discuss the issue further feel free to email me directly.
Thank you
I know I got better things to do than to hang around this thread....
So out of curiosity I decided to take a look at the feedback from Audiotek. It is still available in the ebay.uk site. (And I am aware of the fake feedback, but also there is a lot of legit feedback).
I went back like 30 pages of feedback like until jan 31. Everything looks positive until around Feb 10. Then the bad feedback appears, there is a couple of notes about their Paypal account being frozen and then one week later their account is taken off ebay.
Seems strange that a scammer spends 6 months building up the business and then decides to scam people for maybe a few hundred or few thousand dollars, unless you intended to go out of business.

I figured I would chime in on the feedback issue.
Ebay recently instated a new policy that any feedback relating to customs issues could be removed. If you followed Audiotek in the beginning then you saw that they had ~200 good feedback, then a slew of bad.
All of these bad feedback seem to have been removed. I assume it was because 90% were for items not received, and Audiotek told Ebay it was customs related. It is yet another reason I don't rely on feedback.
Overall the whole situation is quite strange. I ordered some icepower modules from them and got them in 2 weeks, well packaged to boot. Next order took 2 months but they shipped an additional module for free. 3rd order was a nightmare, and I am still in the middle of a credit card dispute over it. Very weird stuff indeed, but it does in fact seem they started legit, then went downhill fast.
I don't agree. I was told my order would take 8 weeks, after 45 days you can no longer dispute. So by the time I realized the shipment wasn't coming paypal wouldn't help me.
I had to through my credit card, and still deal with paypal. I may still not get my money, depending on how they decide this dispute.
Even if I the chargeback sticks and I get to keep the $ for the goods that never showed there are still large problems with this route. First if you file to many chargebacks paypal will shut down your account. I have had my account locked before for "high risk" activity, and it was a b*tch to get my money out...not to mention it took over a month. The second issue is the CC company. If they see to many chargebacks they can cancel your account, which may cause a the dreaded universal default.
So no paypal won't always protect you, and even if you do get your money there can be repercussions.

When done properly, this is an excellent means of acquiring your clientele and assuring a capital base to expedite your preplanned magical vanishing act. Why leave in a clunker when a Mercedes is but a couple years away?
Too bad so many persons understand this or these (6) at last count, threads wouldn't have to exist.

It would certainly make sense if you are planning on pulling of a "Madoff", but if you count the money from the bad feedback, they are a few bucks each.
My history with Audiotek:
Diamond Buffer for 5,50$ won in an auction
article arrived like ten days after payment, seemed allright.
TDA1543 DACs, two for 4,99$, free shipping, buy now
Article never arrived, promised to resend and offered 10$ for compensation...
USB Digital amp, was curious aboot it, 34$, won in auction
article never arrived, answers to complaints alsway something like "article already shipped"
So I filed a complain via PayPal. Today, eleven days later, PayPal refunds me 34$.
Quote: "Wir konnten $34,00 USD zurückerlangen." which translates to "We were able to recover/win back/retrieve $34,00 USD.".
I hope this really means that they got the money directly from these bastards' account.

Paypal does their job!
These are references to the "Ponzi" scheme", no doubt...
I've gotta say I was lucky this time-
Paypal refunded each of my 5 claims over the weekend. 😎
Fellas: don't give up ! 😉
