How hard can it be to check your information before posting ? Anyone with half a brain can work out that if one straight binary dac only ever has a zero valued MSB and the other with a MSB value of one, no matter how you sum them you will never reach the number you are after. In effect each dac is limited to half its values.
An interesting investigation on the subject 🙄
"....Experiments were carried out in the listening booth or studio that each listener had offered. The examiner only brought there a personal computer with a digital audio interface and a mouse and each listener provided his or her favorite DAC, amplifiers and loudspeakers.
The sound materials were also selected by each listener. Materials that had been repeatedly heard by the listener could be used.
A total of 23 audio professionals or semi-professionals participated as the listeners. They were audio engineers, audio critics, sound engineers, and musicians. Some of them were volunteers and the others were paid for their participation. All of them were willing to participate in the experiments. ..."

This confirms you have not understood anything, or maybe you didn’t understand what custom protocol means.
Not a surprise.
Not a surprise.
A knowledgeable AND humble person would in this situation encourage the disciple i.e. instead of calling him an idiot, describe in a calm and human tone how things are ordered.

Hello,
All this vitriol wont attract any new customers into buying all these expensive boards.
It is a shame. In the past i always thought that diy audio was a bit of a niche market which attracted people with a bit more brains and '' normal behaviour '' but in fact we are no better than the rest.
Greetings, eduard

I’m not the one who wrote “ Anyone with half a brain”, I’m never the one who starts insulting.
But I’m not here to get insulting.
So nothing to explain, please ask him.

you did not understand anything, but I had no doubt that it was so

Q.E.D. Dare to challenge Andreas, his **** instantly hits the fan.
BTW, rfbrw is exactly right, unless Andreas suggests re-designing the AD5791 to improve the glitching that makes this DAC pretty much useless for audio. Except of course the audiophile world that believe oversampling DACs are evil noise generators

This confirms you have not understood anything, or maybe you didn’t understand what custom protocol means.
Not a surprise.
Then, perhaps, it was unwise of you to mention sign-magnitude. You do realise others can read what you wrote and judge for themselves but it will be interesting to see if your acolytes choose to try and spin you out of the hole you dug for yourself.

That is some image to conjure with.

It's sometimes about being the "bigger man".

I never said I was or wanted to be the "bigger man", I'm simply a ordinary man.
However, I don't use to insult others and therefore I expect others to do the same.
So when someone starts the discussion with an insult such as "Anyone with half a brain" it's not tolerable by the rules of this forum.
No, just warring tribal humans...It is a shame. In the past i always thought that diy audio was a bit of a niche market which attracted people with a bit more brains and '' normal behaviour ''
tube/solid state
analogue/digital
measurement/subjective listening
jitter impacts sound/no it doesn't
timepod/digital scope
engineers/idiots
If we all just keep quiet, they'll wander off... then we can get back to the subject at hand ... "Asynchronous I2S FIFO project"

Not quite, simply you and your master have not understood.
But that's okay, it's your problem, not mine.
I’m never the one who starts insulting.

Just curious, "everybody and their dog" would be instead acceptable to you?

From you all is acceptable.
I like your insults.
And above all I like your tricks, even if they are often too easily unmasked.
Not quite, simply you and your master have not understood.

You remind me of a certain type of politician. They are never wrong, simply not understood. Faced with that, there is nothing more to be said.
From you all is acceptable. I like your insults.
As expected; FYI, the English language has plenty of colloquial phrases and idioms. Instead of your regular knee jerk reactions, you could first check what is your peer trying to say. A few point in case references:
