attempt to derail or ruin them.
Actually, I feel a little bit guilty. Didn't take this one seriously myself. My experience in life and my logic says NO to the supernatural but there's another side of me, the artistic you may say, who goes mystic when I'm not watching. Anyway, at least I did say that you have no way of knowing. Ultimately, like religion, this is a personal belief and it shouldn't be talked about.

BTW, Solaris (Tarkovsky) is one of my fav movies.

This is a thread of quality and interest?

Wow.

QUOTE]

Must be to quite a few people. 😉

A few million people bought Dr.Raymond Moody's book Life after Life and over 20 million(!) people have bought his books on the subject.
So it's entirely possible that some people we know have interest in this topic and some are also on this forum. Nice, isn't it ! 😀

Cheers.

I got hit head on by a car while riding a bicycle.

I was doing 23MPH according to my cyclometer. I'm sure the car (Mazda MX-6)was going faster than that.

The driver failed to stop for a stop sign, cut the corner and came into my lane at a shallow angle.

My right leg hit the bumper about midway between my knee and ankle. When I came off the bicycle I hit the right front hood with both hands and rotated horizontally, striking the windshield with my hips and legs. This propelled me up over the top of the car and whipped my upper body around. I lost coconsciousness at that time, and came to laying in the middle of the road.

No intervening bright light, etc. Just black.

That was as near death as I care to come.

I had an interesting experience,

I was driving a motorcycle only a couple of months old from new.
I was on the motorway doing Uh hum..about 90mph.
I didn't know that a call back had happened for the bike due to faulty tyres.

Anyway the bike kept breaking into a speed wobble and I could accelerate out of it but when I slowed down it got worse.

While overtaking a car the bike suddenly broke into an uncontrollable speed wobble so I cut across the motorway for the exit ramp and the next thing was I saw the blue sky then green grass then blue sky and everything went very slow I could see the bike somersaulting by the side of me in front of the car with smoke coming off the tyres trying to brake. I thought I had stopped moving I reached out and my hand hit the ground and I saw the hammer hitting the peach (shown on an advert to think bike) and I went over again. I couldn't breath my leathers were twisted around my neck and everything was like a slow motion film. Then nothing..then a warm feeling and I could feel blood running down my boot..I was in shock although I didn't know it, I stood up and my kneecap snapped back into place and I collapsed again..the woman passenger in the car passed out when I stood up she thought I was going to die..

It was a very strange experience..for a while I felt at peace and all the noise went very quiet as the accident was happening.

I remember a strange thought during this, a question do I want to live or not and there seemed to be time to make a decision and it was at that point I put my hand out. I am convinced if I hadn't I would have broken my neck on the tarmac.

Its not a NDE however I have thought about it a few times..

I talked many years ago to a guy I know that had died for a few minutes after an Illness that stopped him breathing. He said that he was choking and couldn't breath (Fighting and flailing trying to breath). After a while everything went warm and he couldn't hear anything and he said it was like his body accepted it was all over and he sort of felt it was OK to give up and let go. He felt at peace then nothing at this point he thinks they resuscitated him. He said since then he had no fear of dying.

Maybe. Perhaps part of you was deciding whether to continue "tripping" in this world, keep "performing on the stage" ... or, take a break for a while ... 😉

(Speaking of "Near Death", is somebody trying for a "Thread Necromancy" award by bringing back this discussion?)

. . . Near Death Experience (NDE) is quite old actually ( the recorded incidents) but only recently has lots of material been published on it. Books ,TV reports etc.
Heard of shared NDE ? Where some " participants" are healthy normal people who accompany those who are dying...
Does this count? (Background: My parents, my wife's parents, and most of our immediate families have lived in Michigan during our entire married life.)

When our oldest son was 11 (he's now almost 35), he contracted appendicitis and, as best we can reconstruct, actually walked around with a ruptured appendix for almost 2 days before we got an accurate diagnosis. By then he was a VERY sick boy!

My wife and I were with him in the Expensive Care Ward surgical recovery area as he returned from his first surgery. (There would be 3 surgeries altogether.) We conversed quite coherently - much more so than I expected, given his condition and experience. He was asking about the monitors, IV tubes, and other paraphernalia attached to him.

In the midst of the conversation, he sat up in bed and asked, "Are you coming to Michigan with me?". My wife and I were surprised and silent, and it probably showed to him. Pointing to a corner of the room, where equipment was stowed to be at-hand if needed, he said, "It's right over there, by those people.".

As a parent that sent shivers down my spine as it occurred to me that he might be about to leave us. (We had already gone through the loss of his older sister to birth complications a couple years before he was born.) The "rational" explanation, of course, is that he was hallucinating from the anesthesia, but to this day I wonder if he was facing a choice between alternatives. And who were "those people" he saw? Unfortunately he has no specific memories of the incident.
