cool, define reasonable volumes, i have a reputation of it being loud, my current setup is a sony str 535 amp, 725 dvd, JBL HLS 620 fronts and a Wharfedale Valdus Centre (my next project is to build a new centre). I rarely ever have the volume over half way due to the damage it does to the house and my ears.

Ok well you wont be able to damage the driver by giving it too much power cause your setup isnt capable of it ..... if it starts to distort badly then you need to back off till it sounds nice again ... lots of distortion means bad things to your setup.... btw if the sub was only rated for 150W it wouldnt mean that it would be less likely to be damaged. If the efficiency of 2 drivers are the same then the SPL produce will be the same for a given power level so long as you keep within the other specs of the drivers. Bottom line is if it sounds bad it is bad!
THanks for all your help, ill go with the Shiva and ill let you know the results. Would you be willing to help with a centre channel project?? wont be for a few weeks though, and even then it will be hard to get much work done (in yr 12 next yr). Thanks again, your info has been incredably helpful.
Sure i'll help with the center channel. I know what it's like, I just finished yr. 12 two months ago. 🙂
thats pretty damn massive, i could easily fit it but would i want too? it would stick out like "dog balls on a bugdie".
TYPO!!!
here are the real numbers... hehehe sorry about that.
142.5L (5 cubic feet)
22.5" H, 22.5" W, 21" D

thats not big, thats perfect, and a squarish box would look great aswell, are those figures usable???? can i go out and cut my 1 inch MDF today? What should i use for bracing? damping etc? should i buy some spikes for the feet?

I'm at NSW
After emailing pat of Blueprintdrivers he said he might get an order with an australian distributor in the next month or so
I'd just wait to see if that happens. Besides I don't have the money yet..gotto save and wait a few more weeks

those measurements are acurate but they are for 3/4" MDF .... i'll post new numbers for 1" MDF if that is what you'll be using.
If you'll be using 3/4" mdf as per spec all the construction details are available @ http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/VentedShivaApplications.PDF pages 20-24
looks pretty complicated, are the 18 internal air holes necessary? got anything a little simpler
they are very much neccessary. nope that is what you'll wanna build ... might take a while but it'll be worth it.
ok, im onto it, on the phone to bunning this second. Ill post a web page of the finished results ina couple weeks.
