its like everywhere i see ports/flares that are only 75mm/100mm in diameter....I'm looking for something like 5"..preferably 6" diameter
G'day everyone.
For 5 or 6 inch plastic pipe, you'll probably have to try a plumbing supply company like "Reece Plumbing."

As far as I can tell the only place on the planet that has 6" flares is Lightning Audio in California.

They don't sell retail. After an extensive search I found the AeroPort brand here

Sorry but they cost US$50/pr

Griff... adire sells the port kit for their sub designs ..... you may be able to get it from http://www.acousticconcepts.com.au/ since they seem to be the australian stockist of adire stuff

Is it okay to tip the box on its side with the speaker facing forward?

Glen,
Yep you can do that just dont put on the 'feet' that would otherwise have kept the cone off the floor....
The SPL and frequency response wont be quite the same .... I dont mean to imply that this is a bad thing .... just pointing out that they will be different to those in the datasheet.
Also... spike the bottom..... and remember .... 3 spikes are easier to level than 4.

Thanks AidioFreak. With the shiva speaker available in Melbourne, and your box construction details, I have the solution to my subwoofer queries. Thanks again.
P.S. It'll be interesting to hear from griff to find out how he's going with the project.
