And what did we buy today?

Hi badman,
Sounds like a project!

I was able to prewire my house before we moved in due to a great builder. So it got CAT-3 for phones, CAT-5 for computers and some RG-6 for antenna runs. It has all turned out to be pretty darned convenient. Glad I was able to do it.

Indeed! My previous owner was an electrician, so there's some network cable installed, but naturally it's set up for what the owner needed, not what I need- very ad-hoc solutions, rather than a good, formal wall plate setup with labels and such. Rather than try to shoehorn what's there to meet my needs, I'm going to run my own, with proper switching and such as much as possible, and leverage his where I can find an application for it.

HI badman,
Yeah, mine all terminates on a CAT-5 panel for network, and a BIX field for the phones. Everything goes to the same spot in the basement and the networking is set up on a relay rack, and a backboard along with the phone switch (Partner ACS 6.0). Tht's where the phone line runs before anything happens with it. Confuses the Bell home techs, makes the commercial Bell techs feel right at home.

I just made a deal for Tektronix 475A/DM44 250MHz scope...functional and calibrated for 200€!

A hot dog for lunch. Came with two wieners. Euro wieners. Sometimes you just have to.

One of the most enjoyed meals of my life was just a hot dog and a cup of black coffee bought from a vendor cart on a beach just up from Santa Cruz CA. Had been walking the beach for an hour carrying my shoes and socks. Was cold and hungry.

Also clearly recall the first time I tasted knackwurst and hot mustard chased with a beer. Num!

(Cal: replied in food thread.)

As to what I bought...
Colcafe finally cam back into stock at Walmart.com.... though of course only in the two for only a buck each more configuration. Anyway, as it is by far the only instant that I've tried that actually tastes like coffee, I ordered six jars. Should be here Monday.

Picked up the guts from a JVC RC-EZ31 via swap meet/eBay. Finally gonna get a shot at building a Shigaclone after having missed the boat by quite a margin. Been mourning the loss of my old Rotel 855 for a while and substituting this and that for playing CDs. Still need to figure out what to do about a DAC.
