And what did we buy today?

I've just picked up what was listed as "a like new Audio Technical" 835b shotgun mic for £75 as that didn't show up in any searches and I got it for his starting price.

Are you aware of a site called Fat Fingers? FatFingers - eBay typos, misspelling & spelling mistakes It enters various misspellings of whatever you type in to ebay and pulls some interesting things up like this unfinished diy turntable with an acrylic platter and fancy feet RECORD DECK, UNFINISHED PROJECT | eBay

Got one last week... $200. I snagged it literally within seconds of the seller listing it on eBay.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Crown XLS 1000 max ave. power.
• Stereo, 2 ohms (per ch.): 550W
• Stereo, 4 ohms (per ch.): 350W
• Stereo, 8 ohms (per ch.): 215W
• Bridge-Mono, 8 ohms: 700W
• Bridge-Mono, 4 ohms: 1100W

But I'm still planning on making my own DIY amplifier. 🙂

Check to see whether tha amplifier is rated for 2r0 (resistive) or for 2ohms (reactive speaker).
It makes a big difference to what speaker impedance you can feed.

It is likely that if they are stating for 2r0, (instead of 2ohms), that it can drive 4ohms speakers properly.

Crown amps are reputedly very good at holding up to their ratings. I'd be shocked if they were to risk that reputation on underspecced products.

I bought five oscilloscopes for 23 euros, which was all the cash I had on me at the moment.

I had none, now I've got five. One of them is dead ( Hameg, SMPS dead) so I've got four. Two of them have some issues, so I've got two now.

I killed one replacing the power supply caps (botched job) so, in reality, I've got only one and it was looking too serious so I painted it. Not a tech and don't want to look like one.

* Hameg manual says they used mu-metal to shield the CRT so maybe I will find some use for that metal and I also kept three power transformers : good for tube circuits. Good deal, I think.

I found a Mackie Remote Master at Value Village for $3.99. It's basically a 100mm stereo fader in a box with a 7 pin DIN socket. Might be helpful for setting recording levels since the scale is much longer than the knob on the SRC-2496.

I bought one of these new 2.4Ghz USB Audio Sender from eBay for $18.00 delivered.
This is the only sender that I could find with RCA outputs and for the price I figured it's worth a try.
The receiver sits in the audio rack and the transmitter dongle plugs into any USB port.
This set up works perfectly fine subjectively (ok, I changed the output opamp from 4558 to 5532) and must be the ultimate in convenience.
