IT LIVES!
Sounds quite fine, too! Thanks to all the hand-holders, and a special thanks to @Nelson Pass.

Hi Withmatt. Thanks for sharig your gebers. Im looking to buid your version. Did you finally built it ? is it working ok? would like to know before order the pcbs. I really apreciate you shared the files. CheersACP+ PCB Updates.
While I was building another ACP+, I had difficulty to get exact 10mA CCS with J113.
On-semi J113 with 121ohm only had 7-8mA, old stock Vishay J113 had only 5-6mA.
I do not think it is manufacturer dependency, but J113's Vgs/Idss spread.
Getting good combination of J113 and Resistor value will be pain.
I have updates on my ACP+ PCB design.
1. Both Axial and Radial Capacitor can be used for C1. (8mm diameter for Radial Capacitor)
2. J113 now changed to LM317L. J112 (J113) still can be used in reverse direction.
Note 125Ω for R4 is still valid for LM317L also!
3. Trimmer can be mounted in R4's place (3296W) when J112 is used for CCS.
Then the user can set exact 10mA CCS.
Going to build this now, and I have some questions. I kept thinking when I was planning to put this thing together that this was a phono preamp, and I guess this is a newbie mistake.
1. Can this be used as a phono preamp?
2. If not, is there a specific project here I should build that goes with these, or should I go with the one suggested by the manufacturer? (The manufacturer allows you to purchase it as either part of the unit, or in a separate housing. http://www.uturnaudio.com )
I already built the ACA mini and have been using it with an old iPod to act as a media server of sorts with a pair of sony bookend speakers.

The ACP+ Headphone Amp / Linestage does not have a phono preamp.
Here's a phono preamp available in the store:

That one I'll need to research to ensure I'm ready to handle it.

The 1st post has a few links, a .pdf, and a video or two. Read/view them all. It’s one of the best-supported projects we've ever done.
Thanks, I did find all that. To be honest, I guess I'm more worried about the shelf space. It looks huge! (Or at least, looks huge if used in the recommended chassis pair.) I still need to leave room for the player itself. Anyone got a picture next to the ACA+ for size reference? Would it be safe to stack one of these on top of each chassis or would that cause any audio issues?
What I might have to do is just use the manufacturer one for now until I figure out my space issues. It can always be disabled.

Use case proven. Barely breaking 60dB, sounds just right.
Have room to get louder, so it’s not nearly clipping.

These are Fostex FF125WK, listed as 89 dB/W(m). Half a Watt on tap with the ACP+ works fine for my modest sized bedroom. I am typically not a loud listener to begin with.

Very cool! One of these days I'm going to hook mine up directly to my 99/ dB/W speakers just to see how it sounds.
I think you would be surprised. I’m loving this. Very enjoyable. The usual marvels of good fullrange drivers apply here. And since I EQ these for the listening position with DSP (within piCorePlayer), the end result is just to my liking. No lack of detail, airyness, or bass from the ACP+. It’s spooky good.
All it takes is four little alligator leads. There’s enough on the positive pin at the back of the board mount RCA to connect the signal, and the ground outside barrel is enough to grab onto. Clip the other end to whatever speaker cable terminations you have.

This question was asked a long time ago, but I can't find where it was ever answered and I have the same question. I'm trying to get a better understanding of balanced vs. unbalanced and most of what I've found doesn't say a whole lot more than some version of, balanced is quieter because it is less susceptible interference. I suspect there may be more to it than just this.Balanced outputs for use with ACA momoblocks
Newbie question: How do balanced outputs/ inputs work and can these be retrofitted to ACA+? I read a review of ACA used as monoblocks and they mentioned the difference with the sound using the balance configuration?
Thanks in advance.
^ What have you read so far, and what do you find confusing? There is a TON of information both in the forums and out 'on the web' in general re: balanced / differential signals. So, retyping what you've already read or re-linking to it won't do you much good.
^ Thanks for the response. The context is, I have both the ACP+ and a pair of ACAs and I'm curious about how the balanced option might affect the sound. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if adding balanced output to the ACP+ is just a matter of wiring up a couple of connectors, or if it is a lot more complex than that, or if it is even possible.
What I've read so far isn't really confusing, I just don't feel that it gives me an answer to my core question. Admittedly, that is probably because I don't know what to put into my search parameters to get where I want to go. As I said, pretty much everything I've read so far is focused on the cleaner signal transfer with balanced. I guess what I was hoping to find is some sort of primer that provides some depth, but doesn't require an EE to be able to comprehend.
I hope that helps a little.
