Here's my build, completed just it on Sunday....its pretty clean with respect to wiring, and you can see the V+ wires and ground wires are pretty tidy, too.
Nice! Indeed clean. I'm looking forward to building mine this upcoming weekend. Seeing a completed photo helps 🙂
Hi Dave,
I have an FHXL with Mark Audio MAOP10 driver. Will the ACA be able to handle this?

You can get a Frugel-Horn XL flat-pak with Mark Audio Alpair 10p from KJF Audio in the UK. An excellent match with the ACA.
dave
The ACA will be honoured and delighted to do that! According to kjfaudio the TS parameters are broadly similar to the Alpair 10.3 drivers. I powered FHXLs with 10.3 drivers with my ACA and the combination was stunning. I used a preamp with some gain, which helps the ACA a lot.I have an FHXL with Mark Audio MAOP10 driver. i can lend you my balanced Kampana to try....
Is there any difference with this clone and the original ACA?
Might be a trick of the light / perspective but the traces of the who-knows-where-it-comes-from? board may not be as wide as the shop version:
Hopefully, it conforms to the Nelson Pass schematic .. but which version? You'll have to do the homework on that one I'd expect.
Personal opinion, the store boards look "pro" to my eye. The board thickness might be different. So, durability and the ability to tolerate noob punishment from excess soldering heat could be a case of YMMV. Dunno .. all guess work really.
From a functional perspective, the store board is designed to fit the UMS layout. So if you get your chassis from the store and pick UMS heatsinks, then the board will bolt straight in without you needing to do a drill and tap job.
If you're getting your heatsink from another source, then it's a moot point.
Those particular clone boards have added two components that are not on the current shop version. D1 and C5 are used to filter the power going to Q4. One could replace D1 with a 200Ω to 499Ω resistor, and use a suitable Alu organic polymer capacitor for C5. Which you prefer may depend on the layout of the output transistors, Q1 and Q2.
I will take your offer on that. Thanks!

That's good news. Thanks for sharing.
I am using a 6922-based Aikido preamp with lots of gain!
What's your room size?

So if I maintain D1, all I need is replace c5 to polymer cap?
Or use whatever you happen to have. It's not that critical. Between C4 and C5, you are creating a filter for the power that Q4 gets.

It might not be enuff power if you have. abig room and like to listen loud, but otherwise it should sound really good. If you go with bridged/balanced monoBloks you might need to add a bit of damping due to the high Rout.
Some day i'd like to really hear the MAOP 10.

What about c2 and c3 ? Polymer cap does help?

the Kampana amp was used in last Novembers' Dusit Audio show, comes with its own Impasse wanabe balanced output tube preamp...
you can book a transfortify or lalamove biker to pick up the units..let me know...

our ACA boards used the fr4 and double sided with thru hole vias....no, we are not selling them for commercial profit, but use them n build fests that we have organized, about 70 channels of these amps were built by our participants....we even have the 48volt dc version....

Tony, those are some good looking boards. It’s nice to have another option for building bridged amps.
yes the 2 in 1 board is convenient to use when bridging....our boardshave printed component values on the pc board....
btw, here is our 48 volt version of the ACA, too bad the covid 19 pandemic prevents us from holding a build fest in Manila...

Hey, quick question on the rear toggle. It's just a two-channel on-off-on switch, right? Thinking of changing out for different swicth from my parts box.
