I was wondering if any of the Altec guru's could help me out determining the value of a quartet of vintage drivers? They are IPC LU-1081's from 1953. If memory serves me correctly they are essentially early Altec 515's. All four were rebuilt by Altec in 1997 and have been sitting in their shipping cartons ever since. I had plans for them at one time, but after sitting around for 12 years I don't think it's ever going to happen. I don't have the space for cabinets of that size an likely never will. There is a single driver listed on Ebay for $1399, but that seems a bit unrealistic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think you want to ask that question in the Altec forum here:

Sure, I'll just don my Spiderman costume and get right up there. They love it when I climb around up there 😉

Interesting... I have a set of drivers that I was told came from Santana 879A cabinets, though when I got them they were in homemade ported enclosures. The bass/mid is the 420A biflex, but the tweeters are different to the ones you posted. They look similar from the front although they have a protective mesh, like fine gauge flyscreen, over the cone/surround area. The backs have Altec-style covers over the magnets with "Altec 423" labels. I'll try and get photos this weekend.

OK, as I promised a couple of posts back, I've finally taken some photos. The tweeters are actually 427-8A, as used in the Stonehenge I and Santana II. The 420A drivers have 16" 416-8B frames, with what appear to be 416-8A magnets and covers. So they don't appear to have come from a Santana I after all. It's probable that they were bought as parts.
