Alpair MAOP 10.2

upgraded amplification to OTL with 34 tubes ,

1MHz of bandwidth, single ended ( single ended, with 15 parallel output tubes), class A..

I started construction in 2011 and I finished 2015 (very long story) 😀
using it only in special occasions like this one.

now this driver absolutely shines, pure magic

hehe it is a nice heater! in front there is a wall of heat! + electric consumption is like a boiler! 😀

but waf factor is stretched to the limit and i would need to return it to the conservation, build smaller amp . but for the experience, this is it, squezed tube currents directly to the speaker, wining formula.

i will see if VFET will sound similar.....

OTLs have big potential, but one is trading brute force vrs a set of OPTs. And they have strange (as in different from usual) and typically increase power as impedance increases like a current amp, but maker stalk about a reasonably high damping (ie low Rout) which is not a charateristic of a current amp.

So speaker matching might get a bit tricky, and done in the field. I expect., like a current amp, a flattish impedance is desirable (largely the case with a good FR).

I just want to say that I am so happy with the sound that comes from the mini Onken with A 10 Maop.
The best speaker that has been here at home.
Can not find words that describe what I experience. Harmony.
Dave, do you have plans for A11MS? I am sold.
I want to build more mini Onken. It is simply superior to anything else.
Sounds simply wonderful. More people should use this concept.

I am making a FHXL kit for a customer who wants to use the MAOP 10.2 driver. I don't see this driver on the MA website for mounting dimensions. It looks like they are using the Alpair 10 frame for this driver rather than the newer Pluvia ytype frame. can I safely use the Alpair 10 dimensions for the baffle cutout?
