Thanks! Frugel-Horn XL and Pensil 10.3 are on the top of the list. Can’t find any information on the Mar-KenM10T with Google search or searching this forum. An assist in finding these?
If I did the Pensils, I would do the internal bracing. I imagine the decreased internal volume would need to be compensated for by increasing the size of the cabinet? I can’t find any specifics on how much to increase the size and in which dimensions. Was thinking about increasing only the depth, so as not to interfere with tuning length or baffle width. Any suggestions?

Alpair 10 MAOP miniOnkens are fairly fresh. A paid planset. Title page as of today which summarizes the planset.
When i put a brace in the goal is to have 30-40% holes, so the width should be increased by ⅔ the width ogf the brace and the terminus height adjusted to maintain the same area.

after long time listening in 60liter cab, i have shifted Maop to the small BR enclosure 16lit.
Maop earned more +++, because sound is great and there is plenty of bass and highs are still nice.
I was worried to loose all that bass from 60lit but still is there, enough of it 😁

bepone,
Are you planning to flush-mount the driver later?
The thick frame of these Alpair's would require them to be flush-mounted to minimize diffraction issues.

zman,
i will in the future when situation will be fixed🙂, i'm using adaptors for many drivers / one box for experimenting in speaker rotation .. General sound evaluation and some other spk. checks i have in plan too.. In line waiting Jordan JX125 in small and big box and after i will see, but Maop 10 is the first candidate for permanent home in that cabinet

I've been listening for a few hours tonight.
Maop10.2 sounds incredibly good. They are fast in the miniOnken. The base is detailed, homogeneous and sits in a screw anvil.
When you close your eyes and listen, you can't believe that such a small driver can add such weight to the bass. Reptile fast and accurate. They grow with time.

Hi Dave. Interested in purchasing a set of plans for the Alpair 10 MAOP miniOnkens. Is it best to contact you via the email on your website?
Thanks
Rob
Thanks
Rob
Received mini Onken the plans. Thank you Dave. It will be several months before I have the time to attack this
For now I’m looking at buying a frugal horn XL or Pensil kit. Is there an advantage in the mids to highs with either of these over the other? I’m not as concerned about the bass response as I’m in a smaller room and plan on using my REL tx7 subs. Thanks.

I built two pairs of speakers using Fostex drivers - Dallas II (FE206En) and CGR (FF125WK). I'm very content with booth of them.
Now it's time to create something new. As majority on this forum is more towards MarkAudio drivers I also decided to try them.
Just received 2 pairs of MAOP 10.2 from soundimports.eu. Currently they are on warm up phase.
I'm thinking of building FH XL and some smaller boxes - probably CGR or mini Onkens T (Mar-Ken10.2maopT).
As I already have a CGR with FF125WK I'm more towards Onkens. They are more complex to built but also looks better to me.
Anybody had a chance to compare CGR with mini Onkens? Which may work better with MAOPs
There is 1db difference in SPL spec between 2 pairs. Is it worth considering in which box to put which pair?

Yes. Note that the CGR, rectangular miniOnken and trapezoid miniOnken all have the same tuning, just different shapes. As the build get smore difficult, the diffraction signature of the box decreases. It is much more likely for a trapezoidal miniOnken to “disappear”.
dave
Yes, mine disappear completely.
In the sound stage.
They provide excellent detailed bass, in the wonderful midrange and treble they are completely approved.
