Thank-you, Steen. What type of cap is it? I.e., ceramic, poly, electrolytic, etc...🙂
Does it cross between the neutral and hot lead on the mains like in Nelson's drawings?
Thanks🙂

Normally its a polypropylene, but occasionally you see other types. 99% of them are polyprops though. It sits right across (parallel) the live and the neutral as in NP's drawings allright🙂Thank-you, Steen. What type of cap is it? I.e., ceramic, poly, electrolytic, etc...
I always include one for the heck of it, but really never heard the big difference! Better safe than.....you know.

Yeah, maybe it is....
I have a healthy little supply of those😀
Let me know, if you want to have me handle the J-fet part of the Babbel-thing🙂 I can put up the money in front for a minor GB🙂 (for the Babbelfish) I have to admit, that what I want the most is a GB of Babbelfish-X! I am feeling pretty certain that a Babbel-X would sweep the DIY scene😀 Having heard an Aleph-X and the Babbel, makes me dream of combining them🙂 I cant!! You can!! I can only build the thing🙂 🙂

I hate when inline quotes are missing in second quoting....
is this board issue,or I miss something?
anyway-first thing first....I'll try to make available "new" Babelfish J boards soon as I can,and after that I promise that I'll make Babelfish X proto........boards then can be just matter of time (knowing Oly that's piece of cake).........
fortunately, (and sometimes unfortunately) I have other things to do besides audio....... is there some smilie for "mixed feelings" ?
mebbe you see this already........in fact that's boiled water, nothing to write as my merit........and just imagine DC coupled cathode followers on each side (mebbe later I can paint them too 😉 )

All the quotes looks pretty good to me😕 😕 I have no intention of getting you in gear, whatsoever 😀 Take it easy, as I do😀 Just let me know if I can help out somehow😉I hate when inline quotes are missing in second quoting....

Thanks, Steen. One more little question: does line rated mean the cap's ability to handle the AC line voltage? I.e., 115 volts requires a 200 volt cap? Or is there another, special rating that I don't know about?
John🙂
Steen,
If you use WIMA MP3 X2 caps, they are paper in oil rated at 275Vac. A 1uF cap costs 2.30 Euro at Reichelt.

steenoe said:I am really exploring the Blues right now. Thanks Allan, for pointing me in that direction. Looking in the rearviewmirror, I knew that was comming. Diving in to the roots is a great experience. The old Blues masters are just great. Man I didnt realise their music was that great until now🙂 Listening to Son House, Bessie Smith and Robert Jonson is a great experience and lets you know where "modern" music comes from. They were great musicians, and created the music as we know it!
Well, have a look at a small collection of classic Blues🙂 The Scorsese series comes highly recommended
Steen😎
Hey, hey the Bluesman! I think I'll have to surrender my diyA username to you now🙂 I see you got K Mo's album already...
😎
Enjoy the fruits of your labor Steen...I'm sure the AXs bring out the best in every genre of music.
Usually I use Rifa's. Patrick, did you try those as coupling caps? At that price it could be fun if they sound good.If you use WIMA MP3 X2 caps, they are paper in oil rated at 275Vac. A 1uF cap costs 2.30 Euro at Reichelt.
Yes, and he is very good. The soundquality is very good too. Actually, there is 5 more cd's on the way to me, with Keb Mo. As far as I could find out, he has made 7 albums in all. I ordered the complete collection of the Scorsese CD's shortly after having heard the first ones. I have just finished watching the 7 films. Great stuff. Take a look at the link below.I see you got K Mo's album already...
Amazon is great😉 I am ordering through them, and many of the cd's are priced at 4 Euros at some of the sellers. I found a shop in Germany selling through Amazon, that has great prices on Blues CD's. Its called "CD24" or something like that.
Thanks. They cost me approx. 1800usd. You can have a pair if you are determined to😉How much did the monos cost? How can I have a pair? They look great!!!

You got the hint. 🙂
Try them before you buy any Jensen or Siemens.

Hi Steen,
Keb Mo...all very good stuff. PBS is an ad-free, public tv here in the US...I was able to catch the feature on Robert Johnson...Keb Mo played as him in the documentary.
BTW, I'm simulating an AX with a cascoded jfet input and it looks very good.
😉

Already built 4. Sounds wonderful.
Take my word, start building.

You cant go around and build something like that, without telling me😀 Joke aside, did you use the Hifizen boards for them? I would like to modify mine with J-fet input, as soon as I get the chance. The Babbel-X looks good, and Blues's cascoded J-fet input for an AX sounds very promising also.Already built 4. Sounds wonderful.

I won't dare to spoil your honeymoon. 🙂
(Joke of course.)

No. Designed and made my own.

Well done indeed. That's nice to hear. If you care to share; what J-fets are you using, and at what railvoltage?Designed and made my own.

There is nothing standard in my Aleph-X. 🙂
> If you care to share; what J-fets are you using, and at what railvoltage?
2SJ109BL, from the source I told you about. Cascoded by J174's.
Rail is +/- 24V, 7.7A bias, 12 power FETs.
Heatsink 40 degC above ambient after 5 hours.
Transistor case 2 degC higher.

steal the best
Hi Patrick,
I am clear, the job in your amps is really amazing and if I want to go with some reference I like to go with the best available.
Then, I am interested in your personal job if you like to share it, anyway congratulations for your amps.
I like to go with the best components available and if is any component suitable to upgrade I´ll try it.
Almost any electronic component for this project is available in Mexico, then I like to have the best and your amps look alike.
Best regards from Mexico Cy.
Ramon Amandi
I saw in this forum something like "steal the best........." Thanks a lot.

Ramon,
You asked the wrong guy.
Nelson's is the best, the rest are all mess-around mock-up's.
