Please don't forget the matching parts in the 2nd thread.
Please don't forget directing me to http://www.diyprojectors.com, which I requested in the 3rd thread.
Please don't forget the matching heatsinks whatever you choose.
Good luck to your project.

And, I got your core point. I agree about the most part.

😎

wow, im surprised everyone has given such a great response. this is a big deal for me too. putting together 8 channels hopefully by xmas will be a big undertaking.

lieven - i'm not going to do watercooling. but what you talked about is called a "bong cooler". it uses the principle of evaporating water to cool. its very efficient, BUT, you need to fill it quite often, especially where i live (colorado) because it evaporates way too quick.

chris ma - yeah, i know. i work as a salesperson for audio/video/HT. however, as ive stated before many times, this isnt just for theatre, its also for multichannel audio (ie - DVDAudio, SACD). so, the percentages are a bit more equal. and not only that, but for high quality sources, you can benefit from class a moreso than in just regular HT applications.

jh6you - room placement is not decided yet. its in a basement, which isnt 100% finished. so the possibilities are endless. so far and EAD theatremaster has been chosen as a matched pre/processor. and as far as matching goes, its all taken care of. it will be like an assembly line, each will be built identical, with identical parts. lastly, my site is down, and has been down. i just dont have the time for it anymore. i barely have the time to post to this site. i may put the domain up for sale to the highest bidder.

well, we have started soldering (i'm almost done). i just wanted to post some progress pictures to show you all how the amps are coming.

here ar just some of the parts:

At first I thought that's not a real dog and then I read that it is. You're not worried that the dog might chew up some boards or swallow a couple of resistors? I dunno ... I never work on my bench with a dog around. More pictures of the dog please.

hehe, the dog isnt mine, it belongs to the guy im working with. its a nice dog. he was just whining that he couldnt see what we were doing. he actually stayed like that for 3 solid hours while we soldered. he didnt bother us a bit.

ill post another pic of him 🙂

they are xicon 2% tolerance (tested and sorted within 0.1% tolerance). i did a little asking around, and they are used in some decent higher end designs. the head of design for edge electonics uses them exclusively in all their amps. they are 5-watt sand power resistors.

you might not approve peter, but ive heard good things about them from guys in the commercial industry, they really like them.

What are those white power resistors you are using?
