Aleph Jzm

What's the full part number of the SJEP.
SJEP120R100 and SJEP120R100A are the popular ones you are most likely to find, though there are others (for example SJEP120R125 which was in some of the early samples of the First Watt J2).

One thing to note is that even though the R100A datasheet lists "High Performance Audio" as its application (https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1455139.pdf), it is not actually a 'better' part than the R100.

Prof Mazzola explained it here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...120r100-power-loss.178050/page-4#post-3404798

The bottom line is that R100 and R100A both work fine for what we build here but don't pay more for R100A thinking it's superior to the R100.

The bottom line is

...... any SJEP120R*** is going to work good enough that user is going to pee Firnis from sheer pleasure

if you think part you have in drawer is not going to work ......... just send it to OPLDF

especially if you have SJDP, which is not going to work here (without major trickery involved)

which reminds me - I still need to try that pair of SJDP (which UberGreedyBoy sent me for free) in SissySIT

hopefully one of these days

Or install 20 variants of C1 over time ... bypass with JP2 as needed with particular pre-amps, music styles, or personal mood. It's years and years of A/B fun for the entire family. 😎
Well I was in the middle of rebuilding a pair of JLH Class A se ESL57 versions until I was distracted by the JZM so I will compare them before modifying.

They are for my mid/woofers so 3k-150Hz. but maybe I'll use one set for the tweeters and the other for the mid/ws,

It was many years since I owned the Quads and they predated the JLH. I can't remember which amp I used back then.

A few years ago I had a pair of Martin Logan Aeon hybrid electrostatics.but they were too difficult a load for the JLH. A Quad 405 was needed and they did sound superb until the HF output dropped off with age.

Both!.
So much so that I now use a Thomann t.racks 4x4 DSP for active crossover duties and a Dayton Audio DSP-LF for subwoofer equalisation.

Hours of fun adjusting them in real time.

These and the use of SMPS for the amps, goes completely against my former policy of keeping everything analogue. Although I haven't been tempted by digital amps.

Progress report!

Particularly @birdbox who gets a chuckle every time I say progress report.
No porn no glory!

Night folks!

🔥 😎

I've never owned a pair of electrostats, nor sadly have I had a chance to build one of Rod's projects. If I weren't scared of both my wife (a new pair of speakers might send her over the edge) and what could be the ultimate result of my lack of ability in building amps "from scratch", I'd try both. :joker:
Just explain that loudspeakers are like shoes?
