AK4490 USB Dac with dsd support.

Sonny, I have isolated a bit more on the sampling rate issue.

I don't think most people would encounter it because to hit the issue, you need to be using the DAC board alone without the LCD on 261215 nodisplay.

Maybe you left part of the display routines in the nodisplay firmware so the DAC is waiting for the LCD to respond?

I have got a delivery date on the frontpanel. for the chassis..

20. mai 2016.

Reason why it take that long is that i have tried with other companies than JJ mechatronic which do the chassis for the Phison Audio PD2. But it turns out that no one else i found in Denmark can do the same work as they can. The parts are more expensive but it does not change the price for the chassis kit.

It is still 191€.

Regarding XLR and RCA PCB we will receive them today, so as soon as we have assembled them we will upload pictures.

The LPS is also on its way in.

I have pictures of the backpanel boards.
First one is with pcb inserted into the chassis.

Second one is the rca panel from inside of the chassis.

Third one is two variants of the XLR panel. 2 pairs of female and 3 pairs of female connectors

The one with 2 female pairs fits into the chassis. The other one was an error and does not fit in the chassis.

Sell the one with 3 pairs for the same price. I have 8 in stock

Hello all.

My brother and i have made an commercial USB DAC module called Phison Audio DAC V1.1.

We have made an scaled down version of this DAC for DIY and for OEM use.

What this DAC provide you with is USB AUC 2, so for OS/X and Linux units there is not need for drivers. For Windows we provide an driver.

The USB interface can later be updated which you properly will 😉

As a basic unit the USB DAC is self contained, and does only need +5.5V,+15V and -15V from a supply of your own choice, but it works very well with an SMPS as there is heavy use of High performance LDO regulators on the board.

A feature list:
  • USB AUC 2
  • PCM up to 384KHz/32Bit
  • DSD/DOP 64,128 and 256 (First software revision does not have DSD 256)
  • AKM AK4490 DAC in stereo configuration
  • Output stage mounted on a "shield" to make it possible for users to make there own output stage, but we provide an standard shield with the USB DAC.
  • Output stage i standard single ended with ADA4627-1 opamp from AD
  • 9 high performance voltage regulators
  • AK4490 VREF bypassed with 1500uF Polymer capacitors
  • 10 pole ribbon cable connector for frontpanel (Planned upgrade)
  • 10 pole ribbon cable connector for preamp section (Planned upgrade)
  • Power is through an Molex KK grid 2.54mm connector. We provide an cable harness with the kit.
  • Board size is 70x110mm, 4 layer PCB

This board costs :

216€ + shipping in early bird

236€ + shipping after 1. june 2015

For OEM prices please contact us at mail(at)mirand-audio.dk

Together with the planed upgrade of an "front panel" and "preamp" we will also make an "output shield" for "balanced signal".

DAC pre-order is as following:
stajo = 1
pinnocchio = 1
Press57 = 1
Myint67 = 1
rogerchou = 1

Best regards Sonny

The cutout in the middle is for a Firmware upgrade USB port. With the chassis there will be a small PCB that is powered from the USB host and will have a connector to connect to the frontpanel.

The 3 in the side is for the DAC. And later when a version with COAX, optical and USB is ready it will fit perfectly in those holes.

BR

Sonny

Attention for a period of time, looks very professional.

Hi Sonny - I'd like to change my order:

burninggecko - 1x Chassis, 1x LPS, 1x XLR, 1x RCA
Vitalica - 1x Chassis, 1x LPS, 1x XLR, 1x RCA
Sebbyp - 1x Chassis 1xXLR 1xRCA
pegasus21 - 1x Chassis, 1x LPS, 1x XLR, 1x RCA
systemad 1x Chassis, nothing else

Sonnya - does your main DAC board have differential output that can be used into a Broskie unbalancer type tube stage with passive I/V?

Your site states that the main DAC board dimensions are 20 x 12 x 7cm, surely this is incorrect looking at the pictures?

The output board (singleended or differential) is mounted on top of the main board. Have a look here for more information AK4490 USB Dac with dsd support – Discrete DIFF/SE shield, PCM Filter setting | Mirand Audio - Solidstate designs BR, Per

Hej Per

I wanted to use a third party output stage straight from the DAC main board and thought that the AK chip behaves much like the ESS9018 chip in that it gives either a voltage or current output depending on the load it sees (couldn't find this info on datasheet)

So straight into the tube output stage (unbalancer) for voltage mode or with load I/V resistors for current mode possibly.

This nice little all in one DAC would fit the bill in terms of small footprint for a tight build.

Mange tak
