Thanks for all the interest in the SMT prepopulated boards. At this point, I think we don't have enough for an automated pick-n-place machine made board yet. So these will be hand soldered using solder paste and a hot air station. They will look nice though - similar to what you see in Post #1. Since these are hand made, the total cost of a prepopulated SMT board including all SMT parts (Mouser BOM) plus the PCB is $52ea. The bare PCB is the usual $12ea for the Yarra (M2X bolt hole) format boards.
They will look like this:
I am still figuring out what resistor values will be needed to drop the bias current down a bit as 140mA is rather high and only needed for a headphone amp. For preamp duties, 70mA should be more than enough and cut heat by 4x less.

Beautiful looking boards as always, X and JPS. FYI, the IL217AT optocouplers are out of stock at Mouser but looks like they will be getting more in stock on 09/25. 🙂
I finally tested my boards that I had very foolishly installed the wrong mosfets - great news is that they are dead silent when hooked up as a headphone amp and sound fantastic. Thanks X for putting this together..dB
Glad you are enjoying the ACP+ preamp as a headphone amp. It’s quite capable and great sounding as a headphone amp. It looks like there is some interest in the SMT prepop’d version. Not quite enough for a production run from a fab house yet but maybe I can do a small manual pick and place run.

@xrk971 - I have been working on my BOM for this, and would welcome any suggestions on the heatsinks for the project. I don't have a a lead on getting the Fisher parts that you usually have on the schematics. All the smallish aluminum fin heatsinks I can find have a central peg, instead of the outrigger pegs on the ones you show/fit the PCB. Will I be ok with a heatsink that is not attached physically to the PCB?
I am also going to build another Hakuin set using all the possible SMT locations, and probably reverse side mount some of the parts to ease the crowding. As well, I converted my mounting system to have a bolt (with thin hex screwdriver) from the top. The socket for the top side nut stressed some of the crowding bits causing a malfunction.
Over the Thanksgiving break, I plan to upgrade my power supplies with new Toroidy transformers, and a set of your SMB boards. Thanks for all your contributions to this sport!

I am using generic central peg extruded heatsinks with the peg removed. I got these from eBay or AliExpress. So no part number. I think the stamped aluminum with serrated fins type would work also. The ones spec’d by JPS64 are probably easier to find in EU.
