Now I want to try a conical adapter for 1" drivers. This could be fun as well -

I'm quite interested in modding the file for a 1.5" throat and testing on my Vitavox S2s. Depending on cost of having them printed locally..
In theory the S2s can do 500 or 600Hz up and some use them like this - with a nasty bump at 1000Hz or so.
Be fun to try..

I'll have to have a listen to my mid bass horns playing higher first though.. 400Hz yes probably, 5 or 600 not so sure..

Does anyone here have a Faital HF1460? It looks like it has a super-smooth top octave, but at the same time, it seems like there is conical extension which might need a filler plug.

This is crazy: 1" Peerless DFM-2535R00-8 in the ATHEX 460-36 with a long conical adapter. No EQ, raw data.

It basically invalidates most of what I've learned so far

I hadn't much of a clue what to expect but certainly not that there will be virtually no obvious resonances caused by that long throat extension.
(The joints at both ends of the adapter are not even very smooth at this point.)

- It also solves the biggest problem, which is the aesthetics of short horns. This looks much better.

Can I ask what glue you are using to attach the petals and the mounting flange? Epoxy?

For the petals I used a thick (i.e. slower curing) cyanoacrylate. For the mounting flange a 5-minute epoxy. All bought at a regular modeller store.

re' reflections: show me the discontinuity then
you put all that effort into eliminating discontinuitys plus into the mouth termination, you shouldn't be surprised when you see very little that looks like a reflection or a standing wave/resonance resulting from a strong reflection

This was shown several times already, there is a curvature discontinuity at least at the end of the conical duct.

- This is certainly worth a further investigation. Right when I hoped I was finally done.
