After lot of trial setups, finally I have narrowed my gear as budget 300B SET(Chinese) as final stage/Power AMP feeding with a Parasound Preamp (200Pre).
All I can say is there is a good difference in the tube sound compared my previous Class D Leema Elements. And I love this difference and I am keeping it.😬
So this SET has 2x 6SN7 as Front stage which I might consider rolling to the aforementioned tubes by @andyjevans i.e. CV6 or 7193 depending on the sound signature I want.
Current tubes are probably Chinese makes and finds it to be a little bit shrill sounding on some tracks. Main 300b tubes are psvanes.
I would like to get a sound signature with bit of warmth and a little added bass. I normally prefer warmer sound than shrill and sharp.
So out of the two tubes mentioned on this thread such as 7196 and CV6, which would be suitable for my target sound signature ?

7193 is more sharp to my ears. CV6 is a smoother and nicer sound. A little better than a 6SN7, though a 6SN7 is a good choice as well. I like the angled anodes versions best, even over the older T anodes.
Oh ok. CV6 were expensive when I checked last time

I always go for cylindrical plate over flat plate. The same reason why I prefer two 6J5s instead of one 6SN7. By default cylindrical plate is typically black plate instead of grey so I look for round and black... unless you have mesh plate, which is even better.
I tried about 28 different 6SN7 and the above angled plates sounded better than all the rest. The flat ribbed plates were least interesting. The older T plates were good as in Bad Boys but I preferred the angled plates. I found it was all in the plate structure, not the make or year.
My current PP 300B amplifier has a cylindrical plate 76 voltage amp direct coupled to a long tale pair 6N7 driving the 300Bs. I find the sound really good. The 6N7 have cylindrical plates that are slightly squashed into ovals. The 6N7 gets no love from audiophiles and the 76 hasn't really been heard from since Bruce Berman's preamp article in Sound Practices.
My PP HY69 (triode connected) amp uses a 1950s TungSol 5687 voltage amp direct coupled to oval plate National Union 6F8Gs as a LTP. It is hard to choose between these two great amplifiers,

Coincidentally when I found out round plate small signal triodes offer the most pleasing sound to ME, I also found out one of the most expensive 6SN7s happens to be the ink-glassed Tungsol 6SN7 with round plates. Therefore, I try to use 6J5 (or its predecessors such as 27, 37, 56, 76, 6P5, etc...) whenever possible at a much cheaper price. Western Electric tubes like 262 and 347 with round mesh plates are great but their currently exorbitant price is out of reach for me and many others.
I just received the same one. The T8 Pro. It states it can use 6sn7 tubes but it needs an adapter to use. Now my question is. Does it need the 12.6v or 6.3v version of the 6sn7 to 12au7 adapter?
