$325 Lab 12 based PA tapped horn ~ 35Hz extension

ACOUSTIC TECHNOLOGIES ELECTRONICS PTY LTD

They build pro audio speakers and are the distributor for BC. BUT in saying that they are no longer going to stock components so they are selling off everything they have. They have a few 12's, 8s, and 21's that are pretty cheap. The 12's are not cheap enough for me but the 21's I knoe they have had for quite some time. That is why they are so cheap.

Everyone can use an Othorn in their inventory.

Is that beyma from krix, if not where? and I would say roughly US300 per driver would be at the top of the limit due to being able to get the B&C for a decent/similar price, TBH I'm happy with the B&C.

Also i will assume you were not recommending i put a 21" into the PAL12 lol. If you were referring to the club install then that's a great option, thanks. I will still be building subs for my mobile setup hence the pal12.

AT has the cheap 21's. Krix has the Beyma and 18 Sound. Although I tend to get all my Beyma's from Europe. I will have to search through some emails to see the company name. I use 18 Sound most of the time. I am still tossing up trying a BC or RCF right now though.

And no the 21 wont fit. lol

Great design though. And I cant find a more powerful 12 than the lab. It just has more displacement. Most of the 12's are slightly cheaper than the 15's. So maybe $10 less is all. I am thinking around 255 per driver depending on which of coarse.

m R g S r, Any thoughts on how this design would stack up against a BFM T-39?

I was getting ready to start building a set of T-39's when I ran across this thread. Long story short, I am looking for something that will have a fairly high SPL in my party room (25' x 30'). Your subs looked easier to build than the BFM's. The big question is are they in the same volume league as the T-39's. I am probably more interested in quantity than quality (within reason). Already bought the Lab 12's. Not opposed to building 4 if I have to. Also plan to v-plate and corner load.

Running a set of 115 Yamaha's up top with a QSC GX-5 amp, crossed at around 100. Looking at a Crown itech 4000, or equivalent for the subs. Was running a set of Yamaha 118's on the bottom, but they just don't have enough. Thanks in advance, Jeff

I have no idea. Have never seen or heard a T-39. Sorry!

Where in NY are you? I'm in westchester.

4 with a crown itech4000 should be pretty good. For a 25x30 room I imagine that would be plenty to dig down to 35hz or so.
If this is install only, I suggest a somewhat inexpensive (for the power) qsc rmx 4050. Run a dedicated 240v line to it, ample room for cooling, and you're set. You can run 4 PAL12's from that amp with no issues.

Other side of the state, south of Rochester. Thanks for the honest opinion and the heads up on the power. Setup is next to the breaker panel, so, I should be able to pull dedicated circuit off fairly easy.

Also comparing a FLH verse a TH. So they wont sound the same although maybe similar. I think the TH will probably extend lower but I am just guessing off of reading all the BFM designs. Building either will be very easy. Bill has a great set of plans so dont be worried on which is easier to build.

Already bought the Titan 39 plans, maybe I will just stick with them. Scaring myself. Thanks.
