2007 Maxon Motor Group Buy

Completed the Parts List. I was able to find the power resistor Dale RS1A1 as used on the original PCB.

Parts kits contains all needed parts, fuses and connectors (chassis and PCB), even the heatpad for Q2,8 & IC1. Doesn't include knobs.

Price will be
125$ Parts only, no enclosure
+36$ Hammond Enclosure (silver or Black)

I recommend that you buy the enclosure yourself. I won't buy them from the US. They will add a lot to the shipping cost. These prices are from a supplier in Canada. You can get them for cheaper in the US. However, It may makes more sense for the guys from Europe to get the case as well. Up to you to decide.

This price is not including Taxes, shipping and custom charges to me. I split the charges between all parts kits buyers. For example, last Mouser order I did, I was charge 17$ custom charge. Digikey has only shipping and Taxes. So this price may vary a little bit. I'll make the last change at the last payment while I send the kits to you. This is a little more troublesome but it insure you pay the minimum.

Take note that as said in previous post, I'm using Panasonic MF resistor, not Dale RN55. They cost 0.02 each instead of 0.50$. That would increase the price even further.

By friday this group buy WILL BE CLOSED. Last chance to make up your mind. Still working on the parts kit to insure that all parts fit the board part footprint.

Is it really necessary to mount the three devices on an off-board heatsink? Is there any way you could include holes on the PCB for those who would like to use larger vertical heatsinks for the devices? It seems that they dissipate around 3W together, so this should be feasible and would only extend the PCB a small amount.

For the record, I'll pass on the Hammond case.

PCB real estate is much more expensive than a piece of aluminium. We pay for square inch of PCB. No point to pay to have bare sction of board just to mount heatsink. It will also prevent other from using the simpler alu channel method. A small lenght of alu is cheaper. You can also just mount them on the rear of the enclosure, or install small screw-on heatsinks directly on the parts. No need to use a bigger PCB mounted heatsink. Finally the PCB design is completed and already sent to the PCB fab, just waiting for my go to proceed...

As I said you can get the Hammond enclosure by yourself using digikey.

Got a real Teres pulley today to go with my Teres. It is made of alu and black anodized. It is very light.

I think I'll close the group buy now. Most of the changes are done by members already into the group. I have enough PCB, Motors and Parts kits to get the best price. Slightly more kits and I'll get just into more trouble, no quantity discount, etc...

So THIS GROUP BUY IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED

I'll start send you email requesting PayPal payment of what I have on file. I'll send you each your list of items and actual price.

Please pay this amount as rapidly as possible to my PayPal account.
I won't be able to order most of the stuff before you pay me since the amount of money is huge, and I don't want to get stuck with unsold item.

So delay in payment will delay the all group, production of parts and final delivery. Not counting my own work that may spread to months :xeye:

Thanks you all for your interest and lets hope for the best 😎

As I said I may have so PCB left at the end, but only the PCB, no parts, no motor, etc...

Just been over the phone with Chris Brady of Teres Audio. He's glad to supply the pulley to our group. He doesn't have enough pulley in stock, but should get enough made within the next three weeks.

I'll ask him what is his recommended installation pratice on how to fit his pulley to the motor shaft.

So, we are right on track for the pulley BIX and Teres.

As I mentionned previously any guys that didn't specified a type of pulley will get the less expensive BIX.

Bye...

Can you please change my order to Teres pully. I did not specify Teres before.

I think I will want the potentiometers (the one that has a 25 pcs minimum quantity) and other harder to order parts too. Thanks.

Hi agent.5. Teres it is.

For the parts, I would suggest all the IC, transistors and the two RS1A1 power resistors. That leave only the transfo, MF resistors, electrolytic caps and a few pit and pieces of hardware.

Take note that to get the most of your controller you need Metal Film low thermal drift resistors. It will be costly for you to buy these resistors just by themselves. So I really think it is better for you to get the complete parts kit. This is why I said that I will sell the complete kit only. It is also a lot of tracking work from my part to order just a few more parts just for you.

Just a suggestion. Let me know by email.

Fair enough. I will take a complete parts kit (without enclosure). I will add $125 (plus 3% paypal fee) to my paypal payment.

Thanks agent.5

Just check with the Maxon distributor. Next price break is 50 units, at 75$. So we were far from it.

Secips send me an email, I'll see what I can do. Part of my problem is the PCB. I got a price for 30 PCB, then the next batch quantity is 50. The price is not that different, a few dollars less, so If I go over 30, I'll have 20 others PCB to sell. It may take me some time, but if there is interest, we never know.
