ApexAudio,
How many watts is this design good for and what size power supply do you suggest? (VA rating)
I just got a shipment of 10 pairs of 2SC5200 and 2SA1943's for $7 😀
Might be the perfect place to put them to work. Is their a PCB layout for this amp by anyone on the forum yet?
This design uses matched input LTP's to avoid having offset adjustment pot?
Thanks for all your contributions to new amp designs which we are having a good time building.
Since their are so many amps, which ones are your personal favorites for good sound quality at the 50w class? I have heard someone say it is the FX8. Is that true?
500VA for mono or 1000VA for stereo, power is 600W/2R maximum.
PCB you can find in post #6628.
A40 is my favorite amp and P30 preamp.

That PCB on that post does not appear to be the same as the AX10 schematic and is a work in progress still by Sonal Kumar.

Kindest regards.

330p BC caps seems floating. So also the MPSA 92. Still need to see it with "eagle" eyes.
Also, is it needed to connect decoupling ground of 47uF to power ground? that will enable to seperate power and signal ground in true sense.

Thank you Mr. Mille for your statement on your preference (favorite APEX amp) 🙂😀
I was sure FX8 your favorite but it look like you still prefer the A40 over that. (Maybe from a simple small amp FX8)?
I would love to build your favorite to!
I know FX8 is a simple small amplifier compare to A40 , to me the final result more important even if cost $$$ more or I have to invest more time and energy , I do have most of the semis at hand you use at A40 just need to find the layout and the build instruction or information .😀
Cheers gabor

Yes FX8 is my favorite simple small amp, and if you compare complexity vs sound quality it is beter than A40.
I like simple amps there is A9, AX9, FX9, AX10, AX11...

Thanks for the clarification. FX8 is still best small amp (good news because I have some PCB's ordered and arriving soon).
Can you please point me to where AX40 schematic and PCB layout is?
Thank you.

Yes you right . But so many times parents have favourite child.
And sometime in real life they do have!
A do not say that is correct but we are humans.
I do not care about the complexity (I will build it ones and I have a lot of semis at hand, I etch my own PC boars) I care about the final result.
Also Mr. Mile is right (I can understand his statement) if the sound difference (too) small better to chose the simple one (easier to build)
Usually like the CF symmetrical amplifiers but I read so many time LTP front end with Voltage feedback can have some advantage over the mentioned CF. I know on these people has different opinion.. So hard to decide
Al do I like the CF I (I would always pick the CF) give a chance to the FX8 and after the CF FX9.. 😀 To get some experiment. 😀

Mr. Mile, can you please explain why the volume pot is in the feedback loop and why you recommend the large 100uF cap in series with the pot's wiper for your LinePre?
Thanks...

Hi Mile,
I don't think I had ever tried the A40 together with the P30 so this morning I hooked them up. OH MY!!!! Talk about a power house. This thing was rattling my windows. I don't remember the last time I felt bass like that. Like someone was punching me in the chest. I have got to get this in a cabinet. Too good to reside in the amp pile. Thanks for suggesting it.
Blessings, Terry

Just the look of that design pair is impressive.I don't think I had ever tried the A40 together with the P30 so this morning I hooked them up. OH MY!!!! Talk about a power house.
I also like the simple FX8SCF design, which has the same type of diamond IPS.
You guys ROCK!!

Aren't you guys glad I asked? Can't believe no one has asked Mr ApexAudio all this time. I was wondering what it takes for an amp to get past the "I soldered it up and it's now singing" stage, destined for Still4given's amp "heap", to getting a real case with connectors and knobs. 🙂

Along with that fancy? case I would think that some arm chair remote control is in order 🙂
A motorized Alps volume pot, multi-source input relay switching, power on/off 🙂
More ... flashing leds/power meters for the wow factor.

wow! so many transistors!, it would take a lifetime to trouble shoot!.
