Well, for a start, it's not advised -simply published without commentary, same as all the others.

Secondly, the response above is incorrect; it's actually a maximally flat MLTL alignment to Fb, not an overdamped alignment. I know this simply because I designed it.

The 'reason' for the plan is that some people wanted a compact max-flat MLTL for MAOP11MS -there's nothing more profound than that.

Then you've modelled it incorrectly in some way. Sorry. I suggest you double-check that you have factored in the same level of series R accounting for typical wire loop & connection resistances, then confirm that your duct dimensions [total length & CSA] are as-specified, and also that your damping model is equivalent to 1/2in - 3/4in [12mm - 20mm] thick rigid fibreglass board rated to 3lbs/ft^3 [or a close equivalent] lagging non-opposing faces of the enclosure. Hornresp should then provide you with the correct results.

Then you either haven't entered the correct amount of series R for typical wire loop & connection losses as-included in the alignment, and / or not entered the correct quantity of damping, per above. The response you show is overdamped, so it seems likely this is the source of your problems.

How do you define 'horrible sound'?

Good, that one is approximately correct -Netpune tracks a classical TL style alignment with a damped LF response characteristic. I don't know how you're defining a 'muddy' midrange, but it suggests you need to adjust the damping quantities to suit requirements -this is where the 'Y' in 'DIY' comes in of course. 😉

A similar design effected by Scott has been implemented by me for the MAOP 11 with great results....

Defintely not; as you can see from the datasheets / website, MAOP11 / MAOP11.2 and Alpair 12PW have very different electromechanical parameters, and the enclosures [although they're of the same general type] are designed for their respective drivers and have completely different proportions to maintain a similar alignment characteristic.

It's possible that you're assuming they have different alignment goals than is actually the case. Per the above, the Neptune series of RTLs are designed for a similar set of response goals to a traditional damped Bailey / Radford / RTL style of TL alignment, with a modest amount of adjustability built in via adjusting the damping quantities to allow builders to tailor the LF load to their own requirements. So if you're after a maximally flat LF response they are not the enclosures for you, because that wasn't what they were designed for.

Understood -that's why I said

...and they have different electromechanical parameters to MAOP11MS too of course, since they are very different drive units [no parts in common], and therefore all of the enclosures are different too -as far as dimensions & tunings are concerned. Where they feature as part of a general enclosure range [e.g. the Mountain / Himalaya series, Pensils, Antelopes, Moons, Neptunes, Linear Quadrupoles etc.] then they share the same general design objects & alignment goals of that particular series.

To the best of my knowledge, yes. As stated on their product page, all the MAOP series are matched by the factory and should be supplied to buyers in those numbered pairs. If a dealer isn't, or claims 'they don't offer that service' they're a/ not doing their job, and b/ being disingenuous since there is no work required on their part other than reading the numbers clearly written or labelled on the boxes, for what is supposed to be a premium product in the MA range.
