2SC3503E & KSA1381ESTU Group Buy

"Production issues" with last time buy parts from ON is bad news. While I hope it is just a delay, it is a good thing that mouser is very good at prompt refunds if a part can not be delivered. For anyone needing these sooner , KTC3503 and KTA1381 from KEC are due to be in stock at Profusion plc in a week, I just called there today. I have tested these to twice the rated SOA for 2 seconds without failure.

Hi Transistorlegacy,
Thanks for the historical context on this to set expectations. Haven't heard anything back yet from Mouser customer support.

If the Mouser order is not fulfillable, I do have the 2SC3503E purchased from Rochester ready to ship to those that have bought it. If payment was already made, I'll refund the KSA1381E portion. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

If Mouser fails then is it worth a try with Flip, mentioned earlier, to see if they have stock?
If they really do, and it's not just a come-on, then there are sufficient orders that the $500 minimum shouldn't be a problem.

They are authorized Onsemi and they have in stock:

In either event, thanks for you work on this, I wanted to do similar but it wasn't cost effective when Rochester, Mouser and customers are US based and I would have had to return ship from Australia, and double handle international postal costs.

Best wishes
David

Hope you guys have better luck they emailed and cancelled my order today. Waiting to see if Newark pans out yet so who knows, thank the lord for Toshiba TTC004 and TTA004's.
Those Toshiba parts are 160v , the parts in discusion here are 300v. The TTC004 and TTA004 have been compared to KSA1220A and KSC2690A in other posts, but even that is an error. The SOA of the Toshiba parts is very low beyond 30v . Let's say only 60 v rails are needed , compare the Toshiba SOA ( just over 30 mA @ 60 VDC , Tc=25C ) to KSC3503 SOA ( 100mA @ 70 VDC ,Tc=25C). The currently available KTA1381 and KTC3503 from KEC have the same SOA as the originals, we lab tested them to beyond ratings.
I know the topic here is about purchasing the actual ON parts. But I did want to prevent substitution confusion, it being obvious that substitutions will be needed. It is a shame about what happened to Motorola and Fairchild after ON took over. But there are manufacturers like UTC and KEC to fill the void both for DIY and good gear, and they are used in major brands of audio gear.

Quick Update - I received a reply from Mouser that the Product is now obsolete and orders are not being accepted. I clarified with them that we placed two orders months ahead of Onsemi's Jan 5, 2025 final order deadline and asked why it is not being honored. They are looking into it.

Not sure if it'll go anywhere... we'll see.

Imo give up on Onsemi/cancel and get a quote from Profusion for KTA1381Y. Chances are they can deliver in the very near future. It's costly to get them over to this side of the pond, esp. for small quantities, so it's a service to be able to distribute them in the US since as far as I know you can't get them here in any qty. Who knows you might get a better deal on USD/UK conversion and even no import tariffs if they come into effect and apply. Might offset shipping charges.
I am going to try them out in my designs when they are available. I was comparing the specs, the KTA1381 has a slightly better SOA than KSA1381.
Just registered my account at profusion today 🙂 Good luck

I do hope the refunds go smoothly for those who will need one. Mouser / TTI is very good. We have encountered issues in the past with some of the others when it came to refunds.
At least the KEC parts will be really complementery in the same good gain rank. The ON parts have been "D" for one and "E" for the other, for a number of years. The KTA1381 , KTC3503 is working well for us in commercial product. They are the VAS stage in this amp. DC offset no longer requires a servo because of the better complementary match, making the revised board simpler.

They haven't "officially" canceled yet. They're still looking into my argument that we submitted before the order deadline. Probably a slim chance... we'll see.

Also, half of this GB has already been purchased unfortunately. I'm currently sitting on 5,000-ish pieces of 2SC3503E.

I like the "yet", imo I would tell them to stuff them up you know where, cancel my order and just buy 5k of KTA1381Y.
So they will comitt to the buy, but when do they say they will deliver them?
For all we know KTA1381Y is a closer match to the original Sanyo 2sc3503E than KSC1381E. feed back has been provided indicating that this is a good and now hopefully a reliable supplier than Onsemi is.
I hope you do not buy up all of profusion stock, as I have know idea how many they have on order 🙂
What can i say, you're in the specialized semiconductor business holding on 5k, crap I bought 500 of each in the nick of time, to see how long they would last selling them with pcbs. Good luck I hope it all works out

Quick update: The customer service email about my credit card was nothing. They have everything from me already. I reached out to them yesterday and they said they're still waiting to here back from OnSemi about the ordering being placed before the final order deadline.

I'm guessing this probably isn't going anywhere, but I'd like to think there's still a small chance.
