nice little gadget
just of curiosity, could we paralell output devices? any benefits?
is it possible, this baby to drive 4 ohm speakers? Nice clean design, THX Rockmandrake to share it with us...

Hi,
1)
i have an other schematic with ouput power device ( in parallel
mode ) but after long listening sessions this configuration is less
musicaly convincing ) !!!! .
2)
Yes this amp is mean to drive 4 ohm loudspeakers ( it's really wonderful with my magnepan ( 5 ohm !!!! )
Cheer

hi,Mr.gerard:
do you have using only PNP type germanium transistor's OTL amp schematics...
or,I think using PNP germanium tr.(3AD30C,20W) to build JLH1969(PNP version) ,is it OK?
regards
WINCO

Hi,
very good idea but >>>>
don't forget that i can send to you 2 matched pairs ( siemens AD161/162 Z3* ) and 2 ac153K ( siemens ) for free !!!
Please note : Z3 means low gain so you will have to swap " compulsory kiwame " ( 220 ohm - on my schematic ) for 82 or 100 ohm.
The 8.2 ohm which link AD161/162 base will be swapped for 2 or 3 ohm one !!!
* AD161/162 high gain are Z7 series....

thank you sir!
Hi,Mr.gerard:
All will be fine if I can get AD161/162 from yours, just Do it!
check your email box,I will send email to you, dear sir!

Dear friend,
you're welcome ...
please remember to use high quality resistors ( carbon comp are
largely preferred ) as each of them can be "listened" !!!
Kiwame are my favourite ( lush and warm sounding - airy and communicative - outstanding on piano and voice - accurate stereo ... )
Riken ohm and Kamaya are good choice too ( but expensive )...
regards

take it easy,friend!
take it easy,Mr.Upupa Epops ,just a joke!

Hi,
yes you can use silmic I capacitor. Sonic results will be as good as using silmic II.
ELNA LAO ( shown on your pic' ) are also very good but in the power supply ( of course !!! ).
Kiwame resistor : diyhifisupply from Honk kong ( fast delivery and fair price ).
ps: i will send to you transistors at the end of this week ...

thank you,Mr.gerard!
I have one question now, because your AD161/162 shipping to me is low gain,so the driver stage using AC153K isn't suitable,I will using 2SJ77 as driver stage with current at 100mA...
and also OCL I will take(perhaps):
I think this will sounds good as your origin schematics...please let me know what do you think, thanks!
regards!

Hi DarkHorse,
you're not totaly right cause my 2nd amp ( which drives my
magnepan Highs ( bi amp configuration ) ) is perfectly working
with Z3 Siemens and 153 K but i have no doubt about
your new configuration which, surely, deserves a try !

Haha.. Jacco humor. 😀
Upupa, what should we do as a counterweight, start a new thread with the "Ultima Complex" amplifier to scare all those dreaded "stone-age designs" with? 🙂
DarkHorse, is the attached schematic in your post #65 your design?
Quite high current and big bootstrap capacitor in VAS stage, is it needed? You don't use driver for Q5, is this the reason for the sturdy VAS stage, however interesting circuit as such.
Cheers Michael
Hello,
Rockmandrake uses volume control at the input of the amp. Schematic does not show it. What is suggested value of the pot?
And if we use it are there any changes required at the input of the amp ?
Thanks
