Iron Pre Essentials Kits For The DIYA Store - Register Your Interest

best to conduct that test without actually connecting xformer to Iron Pre, and doing that when you decode what's proper wire orientation

yes, you shoot to get secondaries in series, so twice their voltage from top to bottom, with proper mid potential

that would be top right pic

don't forget to revert those D5 etc. diodes to proper orientation, before proceeding with juice

Quick update, relay part of circuit is working, psu part is working again (I replaced q1,q2,m1,m2 and t1,t2 as well as zd1,zd2 and m3 for relays).
So back to J1 and j2, I will take them out, after back break, to measure Idss.

FYI I already replaced P3 to no avail (I did not expect as trimming did still work).

Ok, Jason from the store, here I come🙂:

(used 470R gate stopper in circuit)

I couldn't resist and ordered a second IP balanced pair, albeit for the cinemags and jfets, they are rather cheap compared to EU prices!

I guess I will not try to trace back through all the F up's how the LSK170 got fried 😉

Hi ZM,

In previous posts you had suggested loading resistors between the output and G.
This seems to work very well. I experimented with 47k to 100k and settled on the 100k; removed the slight edge that was there. Thank you!!
Does it make any sonic difference whether I did the resistor loading at the buffer output or at the Cinemag output. I am following the Cinemag output with a Slagle AVC.

you can have some sort of effect loading directly buffer output (deliberately increasing THD) and other sort of effect loading Cinemag output - taming if there is some overshoot with your load (amplifier)

though - in your boots - I would connect Slagle AVC in place of Cinemag, as I already explained in several instances

I like Iron, but sometimes is worthy trying to eliminate redundant one

then leave what you like more - less or more Iron in signal path

At present, the 100k is at the buffer output.
I have wired the IP SE out so that I can listen to buffer + AVC or buffer + 6db Cinemag + AVC.
The sound is good with the buffer alone but a shade bright and uninvolving; but add in the Cinemag and its wonderful. Dimensionality, textural quality is in another league altogether.
