Whatever gives a filtered, ripple-free +24V DC at full load current. It needs to measure +24V at the output terminal of the power supply: after the rectifiers, filter capacitors, series resistors (if used), and series inductors (if used). Your choice of diodes, capacitors, inductors, and resistors will affect the final DC output voltage.

Hey guys,

I have a question.

I have in my possession 4 ACA amplifiers. Is there somehow a way to use all 4 (2 per speaker)?
A short answer is that it will be highly dependent on your speakers vs. the amps.

Are your speakers, as they are now, built by a reputable manufacturer and intended to be used with multiple amplifiers; bi-amped etc? If so, then yes; you can use two per speaker quite easily; and no, you don't likely need an external crossover. If not, then yes, there is somehow a way, but you'd be getting into more of a speaker project vs. an amplifier question.

I would not use two (or more) per speaker unless the speakers were designed to be used that way. Your instructions for your speakers will likely have a wiring diagram showing how to do it if they are designed to be used that way. As far as the ACAs, the most likely configurations would be parallel mono and/or bridged mono. Your choice depending on what you need.

Hi, I just completed a camp amp V.8 that I bought last week. This is my first build and I am not a tech. I pluged it in and turned it on with speakers connected but with no preamp input and the amp came on quietly and both heatsink got warm.. I turned it off and connected my pre and turned it on and a very loud hum thru both channels and not dependent to the volume control of the pre.and I tried it with the pre powered on or off with the same rhum. It seems like a simple grownding issue so I checked all ground but no justice. Any thoughts ?

My first thought is photos would help.
Have you tried one channel at a time left input and left speaker and then the right side.
Is the switch in the back in the right position?
How are your soldering skills? See this post with examples of good and bad soldering

Thanks for the reply Solmer, It doesn't matter which position the switch is in the hum is there. With one input connected, left or right I still get the hum out of both channels. With no inputs, dead silence..The first thing I did was reheat the solder joints for the all the grounds. As soon as I finish my morning coffee I will post some pictures for you. This is my first build and my soldering experience is beginner level for sure...

Hi Solmer, here are some photos of my mess. Thanks for your time..

Hi udtcharlie
As far as i can see the wiring is ok.
You can just remove the plug and the switch if you are not going to use balanced mode. But save them in case you change your mind😉

Maybe removing the balanced mode also removes the problem?

If the problem is still there then try to test with 24V power to one channel at a time. Just remove the supply wire from the power switch.

I tried removing the power from each channel and the powered channel still hums..I have a second kit arriving tomorrow so maybe I'll set this one aside and concentrate on the new one and maybe I'll have a revelation. Either that or I could end up with two problems..LOL..Thanks for your help, I'll keep you informed on my progress. If you have anymore Ideas let me try them..
Regards, Charlie

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question, but I can't find the answer elsewhere:
What plugs do I need to connect my speaker cables to the speaker output of the Camp Amp? I haven't received my kit yet, but want to prepare.

My speakers already have dual banana plug connectors, but I assume those won't fit and I'll need to get/solder myself an adaptor, right?

Hi udtcharlie
When you assemble the new kit could you then use the wires that come with the kit and the colors that are used in the build guide it makes checking easier then looking at photos🙂

there are banana plugs in the ACA. try to look at the photo of the backpanel in the ACA ver.1.8 build guide
