SB Acoustics SB20FRPC30-8 (8" Fullrange Cheap Monster II)

I installed SB Acoustics 8" Fullrange(SB20FRPC30-8) in TQWT.

Well-extended bass.
Natural mid and high range with little grating.
High quality throughout the all range, and the performance is above the price.

What is TQWT term of the box?
Do you mind sharing the box design & details, match with tube or transistor PreAmp & Power Amp?

My WhatsApp link: wa.me/+6287782551553, actually I am interested to install in Transmission Line box, if there is any reference to built.

Thank you

Abdi Siregar
Greetings from Indonesia, where the driver SB Acoustic manufactured.

👀👇 Tube or transistor doesn't matter. Price doesn't matter. Quality matters. What preamp and amp are you using?

Hi,
this is a cool thread here! It happend that I couldn't sleep 3 days ago and few minutes after midnight I ordered this speaker 😀
The pair arrived today and I mounted it out of couriosity in the FAST TL of @xrk971 (sorry X) which I built 10 months ago, knowing that it wasn't designed for it. As the xo is a separate unit I can connenct the speaker directly to the amp (the B80 FR is now "dead").
Just to begin at the end - this speakers have the greatest midrange I've ever heard and a gorgeous treble range. I'm shocked :deerman:
So, next I will mount it into an OB with a 12" Eminence (again, out of couriosity) with an xo (derived from the one of the Manzanita, changed/tweaked).
Any other recommendation? - many thanks in advance!
This hobby is so much fun😀

Thanks für sharing !
Very nice ! 🙂

my question: so the SB-8" has better oder equal highs than the small B80 ?
Oouuups - 😉
I would say: for me it sounds better than the B80 in the applications known to me.
It doesn't necessarily mean that the B80 isn't very good or the SB is a world champion.
Btw. I removed some damping material... and here it is, the bass is here too. Funny🙂
Tomorrow I maybe will make some measurements.

I'm curious about the box design. Plans anywhere?
Yes, here in the forum, XRK's FAST TL-thread. But keep in mind, it is a completely different speaker, designed for two completely other drivers, with dedicated xo. And I only make trials to get a sense how things behave and work, of course with the target to make good speakers 🙂 As is, it is of course not perfect by far - here the measurements. However, for a driver who was simply slapped into any box is not bad.

I'm curious about the box design. Where are the plans?
Btw, from your pic looks like you're driving with some significant amps?
The plans are somewhere in this long thread: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...-waw-ref-monitor.273524/page-190#post-7169228

Significant amps 🙂 it's an M2x finished some days ago https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/the-diyaudio-first-watt-m2x.321925/post-7158981 with a separate PSU, built some weeks ago 😀 https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/pictures-of-your-diy-pass-amplifier.166784/post-7161513

I’ll likely give the Demetri enclosure a go as it’s build size, shape and intended room positioning matches with my living arrangements.

Nice. Glad to hear it. I like the wide baffle format of the Demetri. Looking forward to seeing how your project goes.
Are you planning on building it exactly as detailed for the Help FR8 driver here on page 2 of this PDF?

Hi, I would like to ask, how to deal with the bumps and throughs above 2 kHz?

SB_f_z.jpg

I made a q&d simulation in XSim (with an Eminence Beta 12" as woofer) and while the bottom would look good (incl. baffle loss in OB, but maybe I have to decrease the bass further), the upper region is still like a rollercoaster (okay, +/- 3-4dB around 92 dB).
Not that I would hear it 😀
