scobham: Going to send you a PM similar to the above, thanks.Hi Richard, the DIY Group Buy has long since ended (over 18 months ago). There are two options. 1. Someone on this forum has a DIY unit to sell from the Group Buy - they do come up time to time. 2) I made a commercial version that is fully CE approved. You are welcome to purchase one on a trial basis. I won't post the details here as this thread is not for commercial purposes. However, if you send me a PM I will point you in the right direction.
Hi asloch, if you send me a PM I will tell you where you can purchase a commercial version but I don't want to post here as this is a non commercial DIY thread.do you have the way to buy the tach unit for a linn lp12 with permotec motor thank you asloch
Hi Scobham, I'm interested in this too but can't find a way to PM, perhaps because I'm new here. Could you try to PM me please? ThxHi asloch, if you send me a PM I will tell you where you can purchase a commercial version but I don't want to post here as this is a non commercial DIY thread.

Question, what is the longest possible FPC 1mm 8P flexible cable length available?
I can find max 40cm cable, hoping some 80/100cm alternatives are available?
Thanks and cheers

You can get 1M versions. I may have some available - would need to open my stock of the DIY parts as I used to supply external 1m 8P cables with the external 3D printed cases. I will post back and let you know if I find any at the weekend.Thank you @Zung you appear to have linked a multi core cable.
Looking at Mouser site the max length of this 8pin flat ribbon cable appears to be 305mm:

I might just have to look harder or Aliexpress
I finally pulled my finger out and finished fitting the motor driver board to my LP12. I had also just bought a AI Sole VIII chassis and armboard, thought I'd do it all in one go.

I incorrectly attached the old Valhalla switch to the board, that didn't go well really, caused all sorts of strange behaviour.
The Sole VIII is a really lovely, solid piece of metalwork, and pretty simple to fit.
After much messing about, I finally settled on a black marker on the outer plater rim. The white one worked on and off, the black one was much more stable. I have bought a hall effect sensor to try inside the platter, but we'll see.
I was originally going to mount the board in an external box, but in the end I went for one less box on the rack.
Everything seems to be working right now. My only gripe is that I have to help the platter get up to 45rpm. If I don't the motor cogs and complains, settling to about 20-25rpm.

The blue tac is WIP 🙂
Tomorrow I will refit the Mission 774 arm and utter a few swear words trying to get the bloody thing aligned....

Hi Chilli,
Well done. I have the same set up as yourself, and extremely pleased with the results.
I installed mine about 18 months ago, The only small problem I had, was saving the settings to the eeprom but Steve quickly sorted it out.
Regards,
Ray

I shall try this 🙂Chilli - try increasing the motor drive by 5v first, then add another 5v - that should help with your 45 problems. (don't forget to save the settings). Black label is the way to go on an LP12. I would avoid the hall effect sensor.
And I've just noticed the post about adding 1nF caps to U4, I think. Bugger, I missed that post completely. I've not set up the arm yet so not too much hassle to add the caps.
I have a fully build and tested kit available, because my project will not happen any more.
Interested? Send me a PM

Yes, I am if it works with a garrard 401 motor 220 V 50 Hz. If it works how much do you want for it?
Thanks for bringing this up @chiily , I am not sure how I missed this.. my board is 2.3c version and very likely received it before September 2020....And I've just noticed the post about adding 1nF caps to U4, I think. I will try this, btw what is to be expected adding these 2 caps?
