Sorry let me clarify I am using the original through hole daughter board and replaced the BSP 129 with the DN2540n5.

Hi Bill,
Here is the AKSA Lender GB thread:
AKSA's Lender Preamp with 40Vpp Ouput GB
The first post has important build corrections, parts BOM and schematics for mother board and daughter boards. Check it out, lots of info here 😉

Swap DN2535N5 for DN2540N5?
I noticed that stocks of the DN2540N5 are somewhat rare at present. Yes, I see that Mouser will replenish stocks Next April, and that WinSource has nearly 1k available, but at nearly 300% of "normal" price. Humor me for a moment.
As an academic exercise, I went looking for a replacement, and see that Microchip makes a DN2535N5, which appears to me to be nearly identical, except that it has a lower Vdss of 350V; a derated DN2540N5. Since the Vdss of the BSP129 is 250V, and we're not using anything close to that, it seems to me it could be a viable replacement.
Is there any reason A DN2535N5 could not replace a DN2540N5 in this application?
Kind regards,
Drew

Vunce,
I have been reference the group buy and have made I think most of the corrections. I see I was looking at the wrong pinout for the depletion mosfet. This is kinda driving me nuts, it is so simple I am missing something on both boards . I just can’t get any bias current on Q5.
Thanks
Bill

Ok put them on the tester -missed it the first Time. tested as n Channel enhancement not depletion mosfet. @#$& Chinese vendor.

Fantastic build Bill!!
You really paid attention to the small details and installed the Silmic output caps horizontally so the DB’s have room for their heatsinks to breath. They get very toasty 😉

Thanks Vunce,
I was wandering how hot they would run, I have some good size heat sinks that needed the room. This part situation is becoming a problem, I just ordered about half a dozen semiconductors to add to my stash, and looking at some of my old builds with predatory eyes. Maybe we should come up with a must have list. though I am embracing smt parts, in fact my next headphone build is Bonsai’s X-Altra headphone amp should be good practice..

Nice work on your ALP Bill, congrats!
What is the small unit to the right of your preamp?
Love the iguana 🙂

Vunce,
Allo Boss2 endpoint for use with Roon. ZMan thanks, in some ways this system sounds better than my large one in the living room. The soundstage is much better and small room easy til fill, living room right side has a wall left side open to kitchen screws with soundstage

Bill,
congratulations on your new system!!
What is wrong with the 'Piece of Schiit'? I thought they were pretty good?
Ah, the stereo image/depth - one of the issues that the AKSA/Lender and the Alpha do well, almost as much as a tube amplifier.....

JPS64 just made a nice M2X/Yarra compatible Aksa Lender with built in 55v DCDC booster (only requires +12v to +30Vpp) input. This one will put out 50Vpp and suitable for driving 100w SuSyLu amp (1 pair per channel). Or 40w LuFo SE amp.
Hugh,
Nothing wrong with Shitt just making fun of it, actually I really like their stuff I just don’t make it. That headphone amp is balanced and my AKGs never sounded very good until I got that amp.

I have run it as high as 60v.it can go higher but the DC setpoints need to be adjusted to have about 2mA through the balanced input pair of transistors.
Just be mindful of the capacitor voltage ratings. What's the max. rail voltage for the Lender ?
