How does it feel listening to music grabbing only one testicule?
Mono.
It is a beast. It is the holy grail of VFET amps, Unobtainium to the power X.
Now I have to wait a whole week for delivery. :-(
How do you think it compares with the Sony TA-8650 or the Yamaha B2 ?
Sure, but which device are they referring to there?
It's a bit hand-wavey and vague, and in any case manufacturers have a duty to tell you their parts are suitable for almost anything, just so they can sell them.
The 2SK280 with a Ciss of 2500 might be usable, but it would still be an almighty compromise. Let's face it, the Tokin parts are very industrial.
I know audio amplifiers examples with all models of Tokin Sit's.
Japanese audio industry Maxonic brand creates commercial products with them so logicaly they are good..

What an unfortunate name and font choice. Took some squinting to see they weren’t called Moronic.

I'm not so sure of their cooling strategy though... 😱
That Maxonic (funky font makes it look like it is spelled Moronic indeed) uses those white cement filled wire wound resistors - these are not the best choice for a high end amp as they can add third order harmonic distortion when used next to power output devices (source or emitter degeneration) with lots of current flow. I discovered that switching to bulk metal non-inductive resistors dropped the THD by ~15dB and converted it to second order dominant harmonic distortion on my amp (KOA BPR’s 5W works very well here).

Those Tokin parts aren't really suitable for audio, they're high power switching devices. The 8000 pF input capacitance would make them useless.
That's lower than the IHF standard input figure at 10 nF. Not much of a problem.

I agree with you , not optimal cooling solution ( use heatsinks is better )
even for an AB class amplifier.
I am scratch my head slowly and ask:
" What work does this two 2SK182 ES in the one mono channel ? "
Haiqu Victor amp is classic N P devices push-pull 😀
@ Baeijsman
Haha yes 3 pcs. for mono..mysterious amp topology..
You have excellent eyes congratulations !
Was not easy to see with all this mess of the " spaghetti " wires and not rotate image.
BTW Maxonic produce field coils drivers and more..

If those parts were sold at their actual value - about $2.00 each - it might be worth the trouble. At $135.00 I'd say there are easier ways of making a living, especially since there's no P-channel complement.
🙂
I just popped on to Ebay to have a look, and there is a fair amount of Victor gear up for sale, though it's hard to tell if any of the things up for auction use SITs rather than conventional bipolar or mosfet devices. The integrated amps look tasty, and remind me of a 70's era Kenwood integrated amp on steroids.
They only ever made the one VFET amplifier.

Hey, I'm no spring lamb you know, I'm amazed that those parts were worth as a much as that. 😀

Clearly those comments were designed to wind people up. As I've already stated twice, I've never heard a VFET amplifier. However, I have two reference amplifiers that I can compare it to when it arrives:
1. Vacuum State DPA-300B Mono blocks
2. Audio Note Ongaku
If my evaluation of the online Victor JM-S7 reviews is even close, it should be in that sort of realm. Or not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
don't be so exclusive
besides well known fact that there are around several different amps made with elevator thingies produced by Tokin, you can also take a lookl at partial data of Holly Grail of them all - 2SK77B, short-lived and ultra rare successor of 2SK77 - pdf attached
matter of drive, nothing else
I mean, if easiness of drive and benign character of output part is sole criteria of part usability, nobody would ever try to make an amp with VT4C, let alone 845....
I mean, subject is broad ........ thus generalization more often leads to sayin' nuttin', instead of sayin' summtin'
VT4C (aka 211) amps were a fad here about 1995. I got landed with repairing many of them, since they would arrive in the country with under-rated 220V Chinese transformers which would inevitably vapourize when used on our (then) 240V power. So yeah, I understand that comment.
But I was being paid for that, so I didn't mind. In my personal pursuits I tend not to be such a masochist.
That 2SK77B spec shocked me, I had no idea they were that bad. The guy should have used Tokin parts and not wasted his money on developing a new one.

I simply assumed that you had a reason for saying that, is that wrong? I'll say no more on the matter.

I don't feel need to champion neither VT4C (your Ongaku) nor Tokin elevator sand containers
just sayin' that it seems that you're showing some double standards .....again - Ongaku - it's output parts ( both VT4C and gargantuan OPT) vs. Tokin sand containers
from my perspective , both ways are placing equal challenge to constructor ........ and results are product of one's capabilities
by some criteria, all amps should be made with Kosher "Power Amplifier Application" devices ..... be it bjt or 300B or puny 2SJ/2SK

it would be interesting to hear Tim deP. , commenting "audio approved outputs"
I mean - there are some traces of that on web, but it'll be nice that he's alive and ranting .....
