Pictures of your diy Pass amplifier

I think that we have all got your point 🙄

It is all very good to think that patent or copyright protection is a good thing for designers but do you have any idea how much it would cost to bring a breach of copyright legal case in America against a Chinese producer of a copy of your design????

:$::$::$::$: down the drain!

@ Brianco

If you read my post with the link.. do you ?
then you have the answer by USA.gov office How much does it cost? | USPTO

Enjoy is not cost mega bucks zillion..

To register designs is not expensive - to act against wrong doers IS expensive.

That paper gives the cost of various design protection schemes....BUT what does it cost to bring a successful legal action against a Chinese maker who copies a protected design and then enforce that action?????

No, it's not a fake Korg, it's a silicon eraser on it 😀

@ Brianco

Companies have much more money budgeted for legal protection than individuals.

Without buyers on the market of copy cats this business will disappear.

Solution at my personal level I prefer to give my hundreds €uros to local metal workers
who needs to keep his jobs for feed families.

Well, this is my last post about this subject..
I need back to my work bench now.

People copying a Shelby Cobra are copying a car that isn't in production any more. The chassis that was copied is also not in production any more. Nelson Pass doesn't seem to be concerned. I think I remember in a interview he did, he said that these clones aren't really a threat. People who are going to buy completed amps are going to want the certainty of the real thing. I am sure if the copies out there were impacting his business, NP would have expressed his concerns in which case we should definitely respect that.

I like the idea of a older Threshold chassis copy. I would love a pair of FW DIY monoblocks in a set of SA-1 look-alike chassis.

Agree 100%! Members own designs are so often quite excellent!

Put a couple of Hypex class-D amplifier modules inside your Threshold-clone enclosure and mess with people's minds.

I think I found the chaotic evil one!

I had built one of George's SPP EL84 tube amps (easy as it was all on a PCB and the iron was just bolted down) housed inside an old, monster sized, finned chassis that a friend had given to me after a lightning strike let out a bunch of smoke (begins with the letter, "R" and ends with the letter, "otel"). It was going to be a long term test bed for amps as my wife was getting tired of seeing wires and plywood. Nothing over the top in terms of power other than the gentle glow, really good clean signal amplification, and well perforated and finned chassis. A few of my friends thought it was just a high-end SS class AB amp.

If I didn't sell it back to my friend who gave me the chassis (he paid for the new innards), I'd have probably switched it out for a Hypex or an ICE Power Class D power amps by this point in time because damn, that chassis was really good looking.

I finally finished my DIY audio stack! The bottom two amps are the F5 Turbo monoblocks. On top of that is a BA-3 preamp with regulated power supply. On top of that is a Pearl 2 phono preamp, with separate power supply.

All in all, the setup sounds amazing. Could not be happier. The only question is what to build next.
