Bill, you ‘ve read dramatic change opinions on the effect of a few stones or magic crystals strategically placed in the room, how can you still be skeptical over the change from a whole 1/4inch speaker placement change on the speaker-room acoustic interaction? But my point was, can 1/4” change make a huge difference? I think not
Should I place a friendly reminder that this is one more of your iconoclastic behavior manifestations (you keep on enjoying listening to 16/44.1 format, you openly speak of DSP hardware permanently plugged in your signal chain-not to mention that RIAA equalization in SW- now this … )

No, no! Don’t give up hope Bill. The road to salvation is always open to everyone, even to you.
I am just worried of the eroding influence your posts may have on our members, especially on participants in this thead, most of whom are of a tender age.

Time for some toe tapping.

I liked the timing on the solid wood joinery comment as the guy sands some steam bent plywood.

Adding to my belief that everything we say here is being recorded, for no reason at all Youtube recommended several videos on Apollo mission computers yesterday.
It turns out in 1969 they used 15(14)bit numbers with simple sign/magnitude but the guidance software had provision for double and triple resolution numbers which would be (?) 44bits plus sign or around 13 decimal digits resolution.

For those that are interested, here is a link to the Saturn V rocket performance report by Walter Haeussermann. The rocket guidance and control computer is discussed in the report
(Not the same as satellite guidance/control, but an interesting look back at how much was achieved with so little)
Saturn V Rocket Performance Report
For people that whine about the complexities of amplifier feedback going around and around ‘the loop’ this puts it into perspective. A 3700 ton rocket (at launch) that ‘bends’ and structurally wobbles during flight, whose centre of gravity shifts during the flight along with aerodynamic stresses ...

We shouldn't have been able to get there in 1969. It just shows there ain't no substitute for cubic dollars!
I have the full schematics of the Saturn V5 computers - they were posted on my website but they seem to have gotten lost. I’ll dig around tomorrow and see if I can resurrect the pdf’s. The Sinclair Z80 was a powerful machine in comparison.
IIRC, the furbie was the first children's toy to exceed the apollo program's computers.
Comforting..

‘It’s not the size, but how you use it’ springs to mind.
Landing on the moon or a furbie

(There’s a smutty joke somewhere in there . . . )
