Here's my latest 10W 8ohm.
Low THD can be easily achieved by using a good output inductor.

I used SMPS300RS, although my latest module iteration is not sensitive to power supply. Even my cheap Chinese adjustable SMPS can get low THD (but has an ugly noise around 24 khz)

Noise floor of my module with single supply opamp (TICORE260BTL) is lower because of unity gain buffer.

Latest iteration has 1.5x gain buffers. Using TPS7A49/30 didn't get much improvement with the noise floor.

I checked Allo's 8R/10W fft and their module's noise floor is just around -140dBr (0dBr=8.94Vrms) Purifi still has lower noise floor.

Probably Cdsgames is looking for ways to get the noise lowered down.

I stopped trying to get better THD or THD+N. My full efforts on last PCB were to lower noise on output (out of band) . Waiting for PCB beginning of March.

Purifi does have lower noise , but for SQ noise is less important (when you reach a certain level)

All the data that Daniel has published is correct and tested with AP and multiple sources .

We are all looking forward to see this new TPA3255 in the market ) I wish it could be the best one, you seem to be off to a good start) I will be able to compare it to my Purifi and Hypex Ncore modules as soon as it is available.

Hi amigos,

Got the new TPA3255 and I will review it later (waiting for my new case) but I can already share some pictures and made an 1 hour test ! sounds Amazing out of the box :) The stock module is fully equiped with Nichicon caps, dead silence no POP when switching ON / OFF, ultra compact size and sounds really better with these minor updates :

For TPA3255 module : Remove 2X Nichicon VZ serie 2200UF/63V > Install 2X Nichicon 4700UF KW serie (low ESR Audio grade)

For LLC SMPS PSU : Remove Output Caps 2X Nichicon PM serie 50V/1800UF > Install 2X Nichicon 2200UF KW serie (Audio grade)

OP amps : Remove NES5532 Op amps > Install Genuine OPA1656 DIP8 socket (mouser)

Will let you know more when the amplifier is going to be fully assembled )

Stock version

A small 110*70*35MM TPA3255 module with :

SAGAMI 7W14A inductors

Full Nichicon caps, as below :

Nichicon 2200UF/63V VZ serie power caps

Nichicon FW serie Buffer caps (Audio Grade)

DIP8 OP amps socket

Been looking closely at the design of this board and it appears to follow the TI TPA3255 Evaluation Board almost exactly !! The front end is basically identical with unity gain. This probably indicates it will need a full 2 volts signal at the input. The Aiyima A04 appears to have some gain built in to the front end.

The Low voltage Power Supplies (12 volt and 3.3volt) are implemented a little differently and the Power Supply Capacitors seem to be quite a bit smaller. I would suggest this area is cost reduced compared to the evaluation board. Maybe some additional Caps around the Op-Amps would be beneficial as demonstrated on the Aiyima A04 upgrade thread.

Although the board appears to have the spaces for the Anti Pop circuitry next to the Reset and Mute area - The actual parts are missing ?? I am surprised that the board does not "Pop" on start up without these parts ??!! I wonder if it would be possible to add these parts - but maybe not necessary if there is no start up Pop noise as reported from early tests ??

I think most of us will probably run this board at 36 volts given the limited heatsink. If you are upgrading the main Power Supply Capacitors you probably don't need 63 volt ones - 50 volts would be adequate and probably easier to source ones that can fit in the limited space.

With the Chinese holiday most of my current components on order have been put on hold for a couple of weeks !!

As surprising as it may seem to you, I confirm that there is no pop when switching ON / OFF. It seems to me to have read that the TPA325X chip natively included an anti-pop function ...
As said, I tested the module @ 36V and 48V and this for several hours. I have nothing to report regarding a possible overheating.
I'm really waiting to read the opinions of other diyers regarding this module anyway) For me: it's a real deal)

PS : This is the "Chinese spring", most of the sellers are on vacation.
PS 2 : I did not test the new "golden" heatsink version, I saw the heatsink is a bit different so I can't ensure that the caps mod (22x40 max) will work on this golden version.

Hi Danny.

Do you have a link to the new Golden version of the amplifier board. If it the same heat sinks used on the Aiyima models they are the same size as far as I am aware. Be nice to see more of the 3e-Audio style heat sinks but maybe overkill on an entry level product. Could of course be a killer at this price point.

I also noted that there are some additional holes around the Power Supply part of this board and I wondered if this would provided any options to improve the 12 volt Power Supply to the Op-Amps and the low voltage side of the TPA3255 chip ?????

I also noted as an aside that the Aiyima A07 TPA3255 can now be purchased for a little over 25 Euros. This is a steal given it is already in a chassis !!

Sure, here the link to the Golden version :

Shui yuan Audio TPA3255 2.0 carte amplificateur numerique DC24 40v forte puissance elevee 300W + 300W classe D o carte amplificateur numerique | AliExpress

I am not fond of the A07.... the A04 with black PCB sounds better for me, I own both. The Shui yuan is better than the A07 from my point of view! more flexible, I find it sounds better too, it is great for DIY projects etc.

I hope you can confirm my opinion when you receive yours) did you read the review from my external contact ? > I loaned it to a colleague who compared it to the Jlester and the Hypex Ncore NC500MP.
