Like this. You can hardly see it glow at all.
Don't they glow harder when you pull more current? Or are you already pulling close to the 30 mA they can handle
They do, but the bulb is mirrored so you can't see much. Meanwhile, you can see the VR75 (neon) from the moon lol
This isn't mine but this is stunning.

I can see how this could be made in a DIY form - a walnut cutting block, a metal inside shielding, a metal plate on top to provide a convection guide and heatsink.
That's from Stixx here. All his stuff is stunning:
DIY - Original-Ton
His Pass B1 buffer was on sale here some time ago.

Thank you - that was very interesting! I see the two smaller tubes are rectifiers and there's an OPT stuck under there too.
Who makes those transformers? Looks like you need a gantry crane to move that amp.
I designed it, and laid it out got the chassis built from 2000 year old bog oak, designed and machined the 15mm plates for the transformers and got the copper chassis plates made......I did not in the end do the assembly....I ran out of talent and knowledge at that point 20 years ago actually! The transformers and the parts all came from a friend who build valve amplifiers and he ended up finishing it off. It was originally going to follow the kondo ongaku...but ended up a frankenstein of my friends design and kondo...
The transformers were too large and heavy for my friend to commercially use and so I had them.
The whole amp weighs about 65Kg.....and yes it is on a wall shelf!!
your faith in that wall shelf is just as amazing as that amplifier, do you have more pictures?
Not a problem with the shelf.
The piece of wood looks to be at least 2 inches thick? That and the four brackets can hold several hundred pounds.
Enjoy the music! That amp is beautiful.

Thanks, the shelf is 2x 25mm plywood glue/laminated together, and the brackets are rates 150 Kg rated and the wall is concrete brick with secure bolts so should be ok!!
Bottlehead Seductor, uses EL84 tubes for about four watts.

nikon f,
That EL84 amp looks great!
But it does almost look like a painting, not a photograph.
Interesting settings on your camera, or post processing to get that painterly look.

There was no special setting on the camera, I just lightened it up a little. Thank you for the complements! The combo sound great.
