B1 with Korg Triode

Hi all,

Got my preamp fired up this past weekend. Once I finish polishing up the enclosure it'll be good to go. Tubes glow a nice blue and have T7 and T8 stable at about 12.1V for the time being.

A couple quick questions:
1.) T3 measure 22.45 or so volts, right outside of the "within .5V" of 23V. Is this something worth trying to fix? (If I recall, one of the power resistors was slightly off, but I only ordered one of each)
2.) The trimmer pots are in pretty different positions to achieve the same voltage. Is that normal?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can desolder the diode and check whether it is shorted out or not. Be careful, do not power up your unit without the diode if you have the nutube already soldered on. The diode protects your heater from overcurrent. Without it you risk burning the filament. If the diode is okay then check your electrolytic caps to see if one of them has shorted out.

Naim SNAPS

I feel sure that it should be fine, but is there any reason that I couldn't use a Naim SNAPS PSU to power the B1 Korg? I haven't received my kit yet so I don't know the current rating of the provided wall wart.

The back of the SNAPS indicates the output is +24V @ 300mA. The regulators inside are run of the mill LM317T which are rated for 1.5A.

Any thoughts?
