Bigbottle Phonostage Builders thread.

Now THAT is what i like to see!

Such a well built PCB and the chassis looks superb. I am really impressed with it.

How much did the custom casework cost?

Thank you! I spent soooo much time with Landfall getting it just how I wanted. Shoutout to Dave @ Landfall, he is beyond patient.

It was quite expensive (to me anyways), but I just really loved the sound of this thing and felt it was a worthwhile investment for me. I paid I believe $380 USD. The black anodizing, CNC work and laser etching pumps the cost up pretty quickly :)

But I am extremely happy with it.

Telefunken PCC88 as input tube, Telefunken ECC83 second stage.

Pretty nice sounding.

Nice. "guts" (final picture) ---> glory!

By the way, where did you buy that nice power switch? What are those terminal blocks? (I can't tell from my Mouser searches which ones to buy.)

Thanks!
I ordered the switch from Digikey. This was the exact one ULV7F2G11311

Looks like they have it at mouser as well (though the picture is not correct, but this is the part number) ULV7F2G11311 E-Switch | Mouser

The terminal blocks are the exact ones from the BOM.
691137710002 Wurth Elektronik | Mouser
691137710003 Wurth Elektronik | Mouser

Such a well built PCB and the chassis looks superb.

I should mention one thing I strayed from the BOM on is using 10,000 hour 105C electrolytics. Not much of a price difference.

Also, for anyone wondering I did the mods mentioned in this thread or the other one (can't remember) to run 6DJ8 instead of PCC88

Finished my build today with the James transformer. I think it sounds excellent! With the shields on it's really quiet and the soundstage is remarkable. The transformer is nice on spec, I measured AC under load 175v. I did some measurements at the tubes and they were within the expected ranges.
I used Philips PCC88 and 6N2P-EV voshod tubes. So, very happy with it and thanks to Oliver, Alan and Craig for making this possible. 20201023_212713.jpg JPEG_20201023_214312_7249175829180601404.jpg JPEG_20201023_214347_4246658285082627987.jpg

Just as a suggestion, I'd trim those signal wires to be as short as possible, and I'd ditch the Philips valves...I felt they were quite veiled

Other than that, congratulations on completing the build.! Looks great [emoji3526]
