are these pairs fake or original?
I have varius 2SC2240 transistors, some are strange, some are original.
Measure the length and the width of the transistors please.
Measure them with chinese transistor tester and photograph the results.

Don't buy or use alleged 2SC2240 in any event. Its obsolete and will be copied, so buy Onsemi KSC1845 if you expect anything similar to original 2SC2240 transistors. In my experience, the fakes usually don't make the BV of 120V DC. Those of mine that do are similar in tests and appearance to MPSA42 or 43 copies and measure >200V.

hfe number of both bjt's is around 120 so they are absolutely fake
there is no original 2240/970 in market at all.
these are good just for garbage
found some geniune NEC 2sa1376/2sc3478 and buy them.
if you buy ebay/chinese transistors you are looking for trouble.
i got irfp240/9240 off ebay.
sounded fine, unplugged soldering and bang they blew.
spike on mains pushed them into breakdown.
they tend to skimp on transistor die size which causes havoc.
i do buy a2d converters from china as they are about 1/3 price from a reputable dealer and not had any problems.

Like Ian I just use KSA992/KSC1845. If you buy them on tape you don't even have to match (my experience is that they'll all be pretty much identical from the same tape).

no i didn't buy tgem from ebay or chinese stores
buy them from local store in my country which are original NEC
they are a little bigger than regular to-92 transistors
Nothing new. Heck, I got some fake 2n2222 from a reputable reseller a few years back. Why fake a 7 cent transistor with a 5 cent blows my mind. Many CPUs were re-labled and of course the infamous Hitachi MOSFET many years ago.
If you already know they are fake, why waste our time asking here? 🙄no need to measure dimention

Jeez!!!!
Explain the difference in less than 1000 words 🙄no i didn't buy tgem from ebay or chinese stores
