B1 with Korg Triode

Hi ......
I will get my head around these a little more to help with any decisions to be made when I finally have my own model produced.

I posted this before ..........

if you take a peek at my Iron Pumpkins - there is a buffer in front of AVC, nothing after, so - AVC on output is regular thing

though, in case of KB1 - as I drew that (in post #4939) everything is as it need to be - AVC is having buffer in front, attenuator is in front of weeny toob and buffer is on output

toob must have attenuator in front, whatever sort, or it will be instantly overloaded

nutube preamp is ready

on the last weekend,
what belongs together finally came together.
I had finished the feet for the preamp, the control knobs and the rest of the chassis parts,
the encoderboards as well as the display!
the assembly went quickly, and everything was right.
here I have some pictures of the complete preamp,
with the external power supply.

True DIY High End :worship:

I am interested in this build, awaiting the full kit from the store:

I am confused about the effect of phase in Nelson’s article H2 Harmonic Generator. Is it optimal to have normal phase output in combination with BKT or the opposite? What is absolute phase in relation to positive and negative and how do each of these variables relate to the harmonic phase? I think I need a chart🥺

From the 4th to 5 th page he states: ... By the way, if you invert the phase of the signal before the circuit, then it will keep the positive 2nd.
...
So why is the phase important? Well, it's a subtle thing. I don't suppose everyone can hear it, and fewer particularly care, but from listening tests we learn that there is a tendency to interpret negative phase 2nd as giving a deeper soundstage and improved localization than otherwise. Positive phase seems to put the instruments and vocals closer and a little more in-your-face with enhanced detail.”

Long story made short - you will have only two choices for overall phase in your system, you can choose one by having your speakers attached normally (red to red, black to black) at your power amplifier. The other choice will be had by inverting your speaker cables at the amp, red to black, black to red.

Listen to both, you’ll most likely prefer one to the other. It’s that simple.

Thanks for the replies and I will definitely play around with the polarity. Although, as a start, I am just trying to understand the set up that Nelson seems to prefer with wide soundstage. Does his explanation prefer an original correct outputting phase and polarity?

....If you reverse the red and black speaker connections are you creating a negative or positive phase? Assuming the source is correct.
