Indeed! McQuaide, do you have pointers where to look for kit?
There's one for sale here or Meldano may have some left.

These last few posts have me thinking about upgrading the volume control on my BA3FE. I built mine with a 23 step attenuator off ebay for $25. It sounds great at is... but of course I'm wondering what else might be possible with an upgrade. Curious to know what others would recommend? I've looked at the Goldpoints, browsed through the impressive selection of stepped attenuators at hificollective. I don't know enough about how they work to evaluate the various options, so any suggestions welcome!
I have a Khozmo shunt attenuator that Is highly recommend. Easy to adjust the load resistors too.

The one I showed in my post above is a kit from hi-fi collective.

They built a nice Ba3, DDDac 1794 and Ba3 run very well together.

basic questions
Hi!
I think I'll settle down on the BA-3 for nursing my F4...
It's clear that this is a great combo, but I am confused about the difference between the BA-3 as line-stage or as pre-amp...
as a line-stage, it hasn't no attenuator/selector, is that it?
The other question: What would be a good (good as in as good as reasonably feasible) PSU for it?
Thanks!
david

Soekris dam1021 is said to be very good. Hasn't all required connections, though.
I recently picked up a Focusrite Scarlett Solo and have been having fun measuring distortion with REW. Specifically, it's really proved to be the missing link to truly understanding/optimizing the P3 pot in my BA3 pre. The one thing that I have a question about are a few consistent weeds I'm finding in my measurements. I'm seeing notable spikes at 2.9k, 4.9k, 6.8k and 8.8k. They present consistently on both channels and are not impacted when adjusting P3. Has anyone else seen this in their BA3? Or am I overlooking some obvious explanation for these spikes?

Are those present in the loopback measurement?
And another question what value of 2nd to 3rd harmonic ratio is considered to be best sounding?
I've seen the discussion about this topic, but since it is a very long thread maybe someone can summarize findings....

No, they’re not in the loop back. As far as the h2/h3 ratio, a dominant second with a trailing third is a popular target. What sounds best would ultimately come down to individual preference. NP has some great writings on that subject.
