The New Hypex Fusion Plate amps

See here https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/class-d/306815-hypex-fusion-plate-amps-174.html#post5964380

Its a tight space so you need to be careful. I used 2 soldering irons, with a solid wire strapped around as a fine tip. Resistors popped right out with minimal heat.

Separation and size of instruments increased in an obvious way.

Thanks
But could you please tell me the number of post to look ?
When I click link it opens me last page of the tread...

Edit : 1733 ;)
I have to loog out to se that ;)

Your subjective unverified perception is noted.

Besides lowering gain, removing the resistor increases feedback, so as Bruno noted, distortion numbers might drop a tiny bit, but they are already way below any audibility.

I have done the mod on my 8 nCores purely for gain structure reasons. The sound quality didn't change in any way.

Could you please post what resistors are Rg resistors on NC100HF an which on NC252MP ?

What are benefits of removing them ? Only lower gain or ?

Thanks

The main reason I removed them was to reduce the idle noise which was annoying in my system, and to improve SNR and number of active bits at low volumes. The main downside is that max power is reduced. Which in my case is a benefit as max power of my units is much less than the Fusion 253. Though I would only consider this mod for relatively high efficiency speakers and low to normal listening volumes.

So in your case the improvement comes from adapting the gain structure to better match your system - there is no improvement to the Fusion as such, just to how it matches your system requirements.

Probably yes. I think the improvement in distortion must be quite minor. I do not have equipment at home to measure this. Though reducing idle noise could be seen as an improvement in the Fusion itself...

The same concept is used in the Kii and to precise the ADC is also running through this sceme ( LS1, DLCP, Fusion and Kii). You are looking for the red herring...

In the meantime I have found two red herrings... :p
1. I had a configuration issue in my kernel streaming/WASAPI libraries. This caused permutations of the audio by kmixer...
2. Last weekend I installed a JL sound v3 USB to SPDIF PCB in my system. This gives an incredible amount of additional resolution and directness/room information compared to my RME AIO soundcard, probably due to more precise clock but maybe also because my RME AIO is not bit perfect.

If I can find some spare time, I plan to do some SPDIF loopback tests to prove what exactly was/is going on...

True. But the improved SNR is a result of the gain matching your system better.

Not sure if it is worth continuing this debate, but... :p

Yes, on system level SNR is better. But also on Fusion side it is for low output power levels. Basically what happens is that the DAC outputs have a certain base noise level and signal level depending on number of bits active. By lowering amp gain, the noise of the DAC are less amplified but to achieve the same Fusion output level, the DAC signal can become stronger by using more active bits (up to max level of DAC naturally). So the SNR on output of Fusion will also be better, until max DAC level is used where SNR is roughly same as in unmodified condition.

Hi I use a pair of FA503 on my active 3 ways system and indeed, from times to times, the fan starts but at least in my situation, the noise is fairly low then and doesn't cause me any trouble. I must say that the FA503 is mounted on the back of my sub-woofers located near back wall
