partly from practical reasons all I build is dual mono or monoblocks
same will happen with my 86 modules I picked up the other day.....supposedly built by tomchr as well....
will try as alternative to my all out 300B monoblocks on ultra hieff horn system 3way satellites
also will try to run my midbass horns active

There aren't a lot of Modulus-86 modules out there built by me. When I launch a new revision or need to re-measure something, I do occasionally build a pair of modules, which I then sell, practically at parts cost. Maybe you were lucky and got your hands on a pair of those. 🙂
I'm curious: Which revision are they?

they´ll be in a well furnished hiend home....😀
will probably try a linear supply as well....just to check out the box...
R 2.40..is that it?

They'll be treated well
Btw what is input impedance?
Cannot find in the specs

The input impedance is 48 kΩ if you use the THAT1200 and 62 kΩ if you use the THAT1203 or THAT1206.

The THAT1203 and THAT1206 are used by those who want lower gain than the default 20 dB. If this does not apply to you, don't worry about it.

Hey Tom,
If the 1203 (seems hard to find) or 1206 are used for lower gain does that also mean lower feedback and so slightly different distortion figures?

Between the 1203 and 1206, I'd go with the 1206 as it has lower noise than the 1203.
Different distortion figures? Yeah, probably, maybe. That's a better question for THAT, actually. Nothing in the composite amp changes, so I wouldn't expect any dramatic changes. All that changes in the THAT chip is the resistor values in the front end (as far as I know from the data sheet anyway).

I am going to use the SMPS-86 to power my Modulus-86. My plan is to reuse a case I made for an ACA. It has a front mounted SPST on-off style switch for power on. I would like to keep the switch as the power on for the Modulus-86. Is there a ready made way to hook this up?

There is a spot on the SMPS to mount a RA switch. Just wire the switch you have externally to the PCB pads.

The switch pad is setup for a dpdt switch unless I am missing something.

Yes. Just jumper the Neutral across the switch leads on the PCB and switch the Hot if your chassis switch is SPST.
Got it, thank you.Yes. Just jumper the Neutral across the switch leads on the PCB and switch the Hot if your chassis switch is SPST.
I just listed a Power 86 PCB, parts kit and AS-2222 transformer in the Swap Meet if someone wants to save a few bucks on a build!
Chassis?
This looks really really good! Is the chassis from italy or japan? (modus hop or takachi)?
TIA
david
Got it all in the chassis nice and tidy and outside also looks very, very clean, which was the purpose.

'Tis a 2U ModuShop Dissipante. Looks like a nicely executed build too. Reddo used the optional internal bottom plate.

Looks better than the vast majority of commercial, high-grade gear
Yeah. It's a nice build. It would be even nicer if ModuShop had an option to countersink the top panel screws (and - even better - make the top panel flush with the tops of the heat sink fins).
