SissySIT

Just beautiful.
Serial# 002, very cool.
How much does it weigh?

Is that a Modushop chassis?
I like the lip that goes over the rear plate on the top and bottom covers, should make a stiffer structure.
Those covers are flat on my 500U.

will tell you tomorrow how much kgs....

yup, as I wrote oomphteenth times - Modushop Swiss Knife case for FW amps format is their 4U/400

enough space , enough heatsinking

you probably have Al top and bottom (and back) , so no lip as with Fe iteration

I don't care mostly is it Fe or Al ....... maybe even more like Fe - better screening of big Donuts , so preamp can be closer if needed

ZM,

In your build, I see a full wave bridge rectifier on each secondary winding of the transformer and the common ground is formed between the power supply caps.

I see this is following the F5 schematic by NP.

I also see that the F5 Turbo (also by NP) uses a full wave bridge rectifier across both secondary windings with the transformer's center two leads going to ground between the power supply caps.

I will post both for comparison.

I am wondering what is preferred and why?

I'm building this amp as we speak. Stuffed boards, back panel completed, laying out bottom plate with power supply.

As you can see I have repurposed a 12 channel Sonamp 1250.

Rush - post #1 : Babelfish M25, SissySIT - general building tips and tricks

there is a link to specific post about my preferred PSU

read , and then ask , if needed

if you have center tapped secondary , with one bridge , any asymmetry between rails loading is resulting in lesser or bigger DC through secondary winding, which is not the case when you have separate secondaries , one graetz bridge per secondary and GND established after bridges

so , with funny Papa's output stage , with SIT up and mosfet down , negative rail is much more (current ) loaded than positive one , so better safe than sorry

there is (somewhere in some of threads linked in mentioned post #1) my analysis of that funny OS behavior , where SIT is practically working against Mosfet , up to the point where mosfet is gone to clipping and only then SIT is practically adding current to load

that's why I joked and named it ∀Class Amplifier

ZN,

Now that you mention it, I do recall reading the explanation.

I didn’t get to correlation though. AND I wanted to repurpose a pair of F5Turbo power supply boards that have one bridge for both windings.

More work, no short cuts for this build.

My Syssy came to me.

Pretty special sort of amplifier. The sound is very wide, very coherent and reveals space in a spectacular way. Layers and layers of sound over each other. It's neither cold or warm sound. It's warm when it needs to be warm - cold when it needs to be cold.

Didn't sound like any SET or SS amp I know, either. This one is Above them.

This amplifier is not designed for one type of music. It pulls out the emotion from everything.

High praise, indeed.
Very glad to know you are so pleased.

You encourage me to move my SissySIT project up in the cue.
My THF-51S arrived last week, option 2 kits were already on hand, chassis and PS are proving out with Aleph J boards installed.
May have to retrofit PS to dual mono as ZM is so adamant about the desirability
of same for a really good amplifier.
Seems to be working well for you, eh?
