What would cause R12 to go up in smoke?
Is your 4N35 (Q5) orientated correctly?
Would it be easier to get an encapsulated transformer? I have no hum on 98db speakers only using an encapsulated transformer and the edcor fully exposed

Did you encapsulate the transformer yourself or is it store bought?

Store bought from Toroidy. I did mount mine vertically near the front of the amp

Indent at the end with the cutout mark on the pcb.
Got the Tucson daughter on the M2x board with the OPA1611. I listen near field so I don't usually get a sense of the height and depth of the stage. I am hearing that now, dramatically presented. Never heard such accurate and deep bass notes out of the run of the mill Beta 15A in the OB or such accurate timber out of all instruments including piano. Started with my usual favorite, the OPA627. It didn't compare well. This will be hard to move from.

Do you have a part #. I’m finding it difficult to negotiate their (Toroidy) web site.
Melbourne boards for M2X are in. There are still some remaining if you want to participate in the GB. 2mm thick, 2oz copper, ENIG finish.

I talked to them via email, tell them exactly what you want and they’ll send back a quote. I ordered two audio supreme transformers w brackets. I also went with 20v secondaries. Pricey compared to antek but I’m happy with what I got. Below is my final order I confirmed for them.
2x TS 300VA PRI: 2x115V SEC: 2x 20V - cost: 100,70 EUR/pc (0% VAT tax - export price) = 201,40 EUR
Shipping to USA with customs services (TNT courier) - 83,00 EUR
------------
total: 284,40 EUR with paypal@toroidy.pl PayPal account.
Also forgot to mention they’re pretty big, close to 6” in diameter if I’m remembering correctly so made it tight in the 4U chassis laying horizontally. I had a friend modify the bracket to mount vertically.

So when you're talking "encapsulated" it doesn't neccessarily mean potted in the metal can...wow those are expensive!

I was able to get a 300VA standard toroid, with 2x18VAC secondaries, into my shopping cart @ toroidy's site. See below. This was just a recon mission, I didn't order any product or give my credit card #.

I'm not having a problem getting the proper VA and dual secondaries in the cart..it's having that with dual 115V primaries.

It's potted and needs to be grounded. Similar to the PDF below. And yea its pricey and while an antek would do just fine, I went all out. I used one on the M2x and Aleph J

Great, are they shipping? Now I need to find the BOM and start a parts box, will likely wait for arrival of Mother board set and get it all at same time.
Thanks,
Russellc

come on man, you don't even have the main board done...what, do you have a job or something.
The really bad thing is, Iron pumpkin will hit soon, and 6l6 keeps eluding to all sorts of other stuff!
